00:00The ASEAN-India media exchange visit 2024 is being held in India with the goal of improving

00:05the country's global image, highlight its peaceful values and also strengthen ties

00:10with Southeast Asian nations including the Philippines. Our Noel Talakay has the full report.

00:18The government of India observes the prevalence of negative and sensationalized news about their

00:24country across virus media networks especially on digital platforms like YouTube and online

00:30news outlets. Because of this they aim to change the negative image of India in the global arena.

00:36You get to see a lot of negative reporting in newspapers mainly because these are from

00:43agencies and there is less of first-hand reporting because of course all our countries we don't

00:50really have journalists embedded in or posted in each other's country so that first-hand reporting

00:58knowledge is often missing. This was discussed during the ASEAN-India media exchange visit 2024.

01:06Journalists from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines

01:13are attending the event which will be conducted until December 3. At least it will maybe spark

01:19some interest in you about India, where India is going, what your countries can do with India.

01:25Mazumdar expressed his desire to inform neighboring countries and the world that

01:31India is a peace-loving nation. He believes dialogue and diplomacy are long-term solutions

01:37in achieving peace. And also about what the Indo-Pacific stands for us and the important

01:46and ASEAN is really a central pillar of our Indo-Pacific policy. The Philippines and India

01:52share a deep friendship rooted in common advocacies such as upholding democracy,

01:58implementing the rule of law and the use of English language. Journalists participating

02:04in the ASEAN-India media exchange visit 2024 will also take the opportunity to engage with

02:11the leaders coming from different government agencies in India. They also get a chance to
