00:00Calls have been made for Glasgow City Council to introduce a single public travel ticket that works across buses and trains
00:06in time for the Commonwealth Games in 2026, with the intention of making a permanent remodel.
00:12A Labour councillor brought it up at a recent meeting, saying it would give visitors coming to Glasgow peace of mind
00:17so they know they only need one ticket to travel throughout the city.
00:21Council leader Susan Aitken said it was not within the council's direct control
00:24as it lies in the hands of public transport operators and the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport,
00:30but said conversations are taking place with those organisations.
00:34Another SNP councillor said that bringing in integrated ticketing on a permanent basis is ideal
00:40and using the Commonwealth Games or another major event as a milestone to work towards would be welcome.
00:46It was argued that integrated ticketing was brought in for delegates during COP26,
00:50though they argued this was only a concessionary scheme and changing the whole model would be far more comprehensive.
