Jaadu Boutique opens in Bexhill, East Sussex

00:00Hello, I'm Janine Du Plessis and my shop is called Jadoo, which is the Hindi word for

00:08magic, and we opened this Tuesday. It's mainly, most of the things come from India. They're

00:17handmade. I go twice a year and I work with makers who do handprints, hand embroideries,

00:26handweaves, and I go and I work with them to ensure that they work in safe conditions

00:36and are paid properly, which enables them to feed, educate their children and have some

00:44sort of a life. We've recently moved to Bexhill and we bought this building because we want

00:50to invest in this town. We think it's got great potential and I have plans. Actually,

00:59this shop is 1,000 square feet, so it will be extended. This is just the front of it.

01:04It will be extending and I'm hoping to have a gallery downstairs as well, but that won't

01:10be until next year. There's quite a lot of building to be done in the meantime.
