Bexhill Farmers' Market in East Sussex

The market is very popular and is in need of more stallholders.

00:00We all started about 12 years ago here. It started off with a market manager and we had

00:10stalls that were put up for us but it ran into financial difficulties so they left and

00:17we took it over and we now run it ourselves as stallholders and we purchased all the gazebos

00:23for ourselves and it just works. Last year for Christmas we donated about £1500 to local

00:32communities, the food bank, the homeless and people like that. It's just money that we've

00:40accumulated from the stallholder fees and that's what we've managed to do over the years

00:44that we've been running it ourselves. We definitely need more stallholders. We get lots of people

00:50applying but it's for things that we've already got. Because we're such a small market we

00:54don't really want to double up so anybody who's got something different to what we already

00:59do will be more than welcome. But it's all got to be made by the individual and you can

01:04see from being in the market yourself today that it's all good quality local produce and

01:09that's what's important to Bexhill. Well it provides the community spirit and it's all

01:13about community, local shopping. People in Bexhill they don't want to necessarily shop

01:19for a month, they want to be able to buy their fresh produce every single week and also they

01:25like to have a nice chat with us. It's incredibly friendly and that's exactly what they like.
