00:00So today's Bexhill Day. Bexhill Day was started in 1917 and recreated the Bexhill Trust which
00:10was to help people in poverty in Bexhill. It has had some quieter years let's say. It was
00:17regenerated a few years ago and Bexhill Town Council have taken on board and we use it now
00:22as a health and well-being experience for people down on East Parade along here and this year we've
00:28got 31 different organisations which is more than any other year and it just brings all of
00:33Bexhill together. There's all sorts of fundraising going on down here mainly run by volunteers which
00:39is what keeps Bexhill ticking over. Without volunteers Bexhill wouldn't be half the town
00:43that it is now. It's really important that these sorts of events carry on because if they don't
00:49our history of the town will be forgotten and if you look around at the heritage that we have here
00:54particularly behind us the band stat that that's been rejuvenated by Bexhill heritage all those
01:00things are important for the history and particularly yesterday was VJ Day and remembering the the people
01:06that this country lost in wars around the world and I'm really behind supporting anything that
01:13remembers the past but also looks to the future and supports people in our town. So from a Mayor's
01:18perspective this is my second year last year was really quite awe-inspiring and this year I'm hoping
01:25it's going to be better even better because I enjoy doing what I do as a Mayor I put so much time and
01:31effort into it hours after hours each week to try and bring everything together in Bexhill to make it
01:38an even better town than what it currently is. We're all involved we're all doing similar things
01:43I have in the my kiosk ice creams etc which I've had for about 23 years only and then because sadly
01:54quite a few people I know of I wanted to raise some money for for cancer so we have now today there's
02:02lots of other lovely and I should go and buy tickets up the road um things for tombolas or raffles or whatever
02:10we all take part in each other's and as I say hopefully I'm collecting for Macmillan nurses and
02:19St Michael's hospice um in Hastings because my goodness are they lovely to my nan to my uncle my
02:27this or that beautiful so it's just a general thing donation things but I put quite a lot in
02:35source of stuff and it's nice to casually be involved with everybody and hopefully we'll be able to
02:44donate a nice bit of money to help
