00:03Derbyshire County Council is looking to reduce the speed limit along a stretch of road between Clown and Bolsover

00:09after campaigners called for action following a series of collisions.

00:13Bolsover District Councillor Donna Hales and residents of the Oxcross Estate

00:17have repeatedly raised concerns about the number of accidents on Mansfield Road

00:21between Clown and Bolsover, known locally as the Ramper Road.

00:25Councillor Hales said the speed limit on the road, which is currently 60mph,

00:29had seen a series of accidents including life-changing incidents and fatalities.

00:33Campaigners have been involved in a long-running appeal

00:36urging the County Council to address the problems with a reduced speed limit and traffic calming measures.

00:41This week a County Council spokesperson said

00:44we are aware of residents' concerns about speeding on Mansfield Road

00:48and, following an assessment of all the concerns and recent issues,

00:51are looking to lower the speed limit to 40mph through the Oxcross area.

00:58A market trader has called on Chesterfield to

01:01get behind the improvements in the town's marketplace

01:04with the first phase due to be completed before Christmas.

01:07Ed Fordham runs Brockwell Books of Chesterfield on the market

01:10and is also leader of the County Council's Liberal Democrats.

01:13He said excitement was looming as the revamped open-air market prepares to reopen

01:17and traders return to the top side of the main market square in the first week of January.

01:21He said he was confident that it would be better than ever and said

01:24this is good news for all who love the outdoor market and is superb news for Chesterfield.
