00:00I'm Zoe Saldana, and I'm a woman in Hollywood.

00:04The first time I saw myself in a character

00:06was an episode of Law & Order.

00:09That was the very first time I did something

00:11that my entire family, you know,

00:14living in the States and worldwide was able to watch.

00:16Remember the day that I shot that scene,

00:18I had so much fun on set,

00:21and I thought, I can get used to this.

00:23Like, this is something that I'm,

00:25I can maybe do, like, as a career.

00:27The most difficult lesson I've learned in my career,

00:31not to take anything for granted.

00:34You know, when you're young,

00:35and you start getting all these opportunities,

00:39you can very easily enter a pattern

00:41of working hard and playing hard,

00:44and that's okay if you're able to still wake up

00:47the very next day, get to work on time,

00:49look super sharp, and deliver your work.

00:52The advice I give my younger self when I was starting out,

00:56it's not so much an advice, but more like a message.

01:01It gets better.

01:02It always gets better.

01:03My younger self would have been like, what?

01:06Pfft, total f***ing cynic.

01:09That's what you have to give me?

01:12Out of all the things you've achieved and done,

01:14you're gonna leave me with this?

01:16It gets better?

01:17And yeah, yeah.

01:19That's what I would leave my younger self with.

01:22I'm championing other women in this industry

01:25by living my most authentic self

01:27and making decisions that come completely from the heart

01:29and with an open mind,

01:31so that that can be an example for the future generations.

01:35The Hollywood moment that still amazes me

01:38is going to the Oscars for the first time.

01:40It was incredible.

01:41And I went to the Oscars because I was a part of a film

01:46that was a major contender,

01:49and that was, I felt like I belonged there,

01:53and that felt great.

01:55Pfft.
