00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. Now if you've seen any of our explainer videos this week,
00:04you may have noticed a rather unconvincing mustache adorning my face. The reason for that is Movember.
00:08It's a movement that began a fair few years ago now and it's charitable endeavour that is centred around men's health across a few key
00:13topics. First is mental health and suicide prevention because according to the Movember website, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day
00:20across the world. They're encouraging men, particularly young men, to join together in groups or even just talk to their friends if they're ever having
00:26any worries. Second is research towards prostate cancer which can affect 1 in 8 UK men. Globally, more than 1.4 million men are diagnosed each year
00:34and it's really important that men understand enough about the disease to get checked. And finally, testicular cancer is the third focus.
00:40It's the most common cancer in young men in the UK and although survival rates are incredibly high, it's again really, really important that young men in particular
00:47know how to check themselves out. All you need to do if you want to support Movember is go to the Movember website and click donate,
00:52talk to your friends, communicate with each other, make sure that you understand enough
00:56about all of those causes that you can look after yourself and those that you care about.
