00:00The Palace respects the statements made by former President Rodrigo Duterte,
00:04while the former chief executive challenged the International Criminal Court, or ICC,
00:09to immediately conduct a probe on his administration's drug war.
00:13Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin says,
00:16if the former president wants to be placed under the jurisdiction of the ICC,
00:20then the Marcos government will not intervene.
00:23However, if the ICC does refer the process to the International Criminal Police Organization, or INTERPOL,
00:29which in turn can issue a red notice to Philippine authorities,
00:33the government would be obligated to treat such request as one that needs to be entertained
00:38and will make it necessary for law enforcement agencies in the country
00:42to cooperate with international law enforcement bodies as part of protocol.
00:47Former President Duterte made such remark when he attended today's House Quad Committee hearing
00:52on alleged extrajudicial killings.
00:55President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier said the ICC has no jurisdiction over the country
01:00as the laws in the Philippines are still working.
