00:00Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed deep sadness over Dayim Zainudin's

00:07inability to spend his final days in peace due to accusations of wrongdoing.

00:13In an interview with Astro Awani, Mahathir praised Dayim's contribution to Malaysia

00:17as finance minister, highlighting his willingness to step down once his services were no longer

00:22needed.

00:23He urged Malaysians to remember Dayim for his service and not the controversies that

00:28marred his last years, and maintained his belief that Dayim's riches were not gained

00:33dishonestly.

00:36Earlier this year, Dayim was investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission

00:40after being named in the Pandora Papers, and he, along with his wife Naima Khalid, was

00:46later charged with failing to comply with an asset declaration notice from the MACC.

00:51Meanwhile, Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Othman Said acknowledged Dayim's

00:58contributions to UMNO, and Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail recognized his

01:03contributions to the nation.

01:06Deputy Communications Minister Tiong Yi Ching expressed condolences to Dayim's family

01:11in the Dewan Rakyat before answering questions.

01:14Leaders from across party lines, including PASA's Ahmad Fadli Shaari, highlighted Dayim's

01:19impact on the economy, and DAP's Lim Guan Eng also offered condolences to his family.
