Hurricane Rafael moves away from Cuban coasts

00:00Hurricane Rafael continues to move away from Cuba and moves over the southeastern Gulf

00:59of the country, with values higher than 100 millimeters in 37 localities in the provinces

01:05of Santispirito, Cienfuegos, Matanzas, Mayaveque and Havana.

01:11Rainfall will continue during the next 24 hours in the western and central regions,

01:15which could still be strong and intense in some localities.

01:24The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, will visit on Thursday the territories most

01:31affected by Hurricane Rafael, which may landfall in the island on Wednesday as a Category 3

01:38hurricane.

01:39The head of state himself confirmed that he has been in touch with the secretaries of

01:43the Communist Party of the affected regions.

01:46The objective is to carry out more precise evaluations in each one of the areas.

01:58In this context, it is a moving-forward strategy for the gradual recovery of the national power

02:04system of the western part of the island.

02:06The electric system was disconnected this Wednesday as a result of which gone about

02:12100 kilometers.

02:13In the last hours, it was possible to bring energy to Viteras and Nuevitas power stations

02:19to start the reconnection process.

02:21More than 10 sectors of energy power generation provide coverage in central and eastern regions

03:13The president concluded by saying that the revolutionary government was up and fighting.

03:27Another correspondent in Cuba, Fabiola Lopez, interviewed authorities of the Defense Council

03:32of Hidalgo, who were making recovery efforts after Hurricane Rafael passed through the

03:38Caribbean island.

03:39Well, first of all, we evacuated all the people in need with issues in their houses and roofs.

03:49And then we evacuated in the Women's Federation of Cuba and in the house music of Plaza.
