00:00Despite the threat posed by a very strong typhoon on the northernmost part of the country,

00:06the desire of many Filipinos to be with their loved ones and pay their respects to their dearly departed

00:11will not be dampened.

00:13That's why from today to the next few days,

00:15ports and airports will be full of people trying to make that annual Undas exodus.

00:21Alan Francisco supplies the details.

00:25The government is ensuring that land, water and air transportation across the country

00:31is in safe and good for the welfare of travelers for this long and solemn holiday weekend.

00:37Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista led the inspection of the Manila North Port Passenger Terminal

00:43in the city of Manila.

00:45This is part of Oplan Biahing Ayos which aims to ensure the smooth and safe travel of passengers.

00:51Secretary Bautista has also issued strict orders to his staff.

01:15The situation at Manila North Port is normal, especially for those traveling to Cebu.

01:20The terminal situation is orderly according to the Manila International Airport Authority.

01:25However, there were longer lines at immigration, though they were manageable.

01:30To be fair with our immigration personnel, they deployed additional.

01:35Here, the line is being pulled.

01:37For domestic, it's okay.

01:39It's really manageable.

01:42In our numbers, the international departures are higher.

01:47The MIAA estimates hundreds of thousands of passengers for the exodus out of the NCR today

01:53and over the long Undas weekend.

01:55They continue to remind passengers to arrive three to four hours early for international flights

02:00and two hours early for domestic flights to avoid delays.

02:03Up to 200,000 passengers are expected at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange or PTEX

02:09on the eve of All Saints Day.

02:11Security is tight with police and other uniformed personnel present.

02:15Yesterday, there was also random drug testing conducted on bus drivers and conductors.

02:20With three drivers testing positive, the PTEX has confiscated

02:24the licenses of these individuals who are now prohibited from operating.

02:29Most drivers and conductors, however, are in good physical and sound mental condition.

02:34For those who are going to travel now, we can only travel light.

02:38Travel light because of two things.

02:40First, it's hard for a lot of people and a lot of passengers.

02:43We will also be inconvenienced.

02:46Second, let's travel light so that we can give our passengers

02:51a chance to bring their baggage and luggage.
