00:00Batang Pinoy is going to be held in Puerto Princesa City.

00:03It will be a great opportunity for the scouting of athletes who could be counted in the national team in various fields.

00:10Orlan Habagat of PIAB Maropa has news for the country.

00:17In a memorandum of agreement,

00:20the Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachman and Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron

00:26have agreed to hold the Batang Pinoy in the city from Nov. 23 to Nov. 28, 2024.

00:33PSC Chairman Bachman explained that the primary goal of Batang Pinoy

00:38is for the National Sports Association to scout athletes who could be counted in the national team in various fields.

00:48More than 11,600 athletes from various cities and provinces in the country

00:54are being scouted in the so-called National Games, according to the Philippine Sports Commission.

01:01Mayor Bayron said that such a big sports event could give a boost to the economy of the city.

01:08We really tried to invite Batang Pinoy to come here.

01:16But we saw that if Batang Pinoy could help the economy of Puerto Princesa,

01:24as mentioned earlier, 11,500, that's a lot.

01:30If you think about it, it's like a closed quince mill.

01:34If you eat that every day, our economy will be affected.

01:40Batang Pinoy Co-Project Lead Ivan Rigudon also agreed

01:44that the number of Batang Pinoy should be wider

01:47because it includes out-of-school youth and it is LGU-based.

01:51The scouting athletes are aged 12 to 17 years old.

01:58The city also assured that the food supply is sufficient during Batang Pinoy.

02:04Here at Ramon V. Mitra Jr. Sports Complex in the city of Puerto Princesa,

02:09the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Finals was held.

02:13Batang Pinoy 2024 will also be held here.
