00:00Temporary accommodation for refugees or people on council housing lists always seems to attract
00:07controversy and the latest saga is that of Hoyle Croeso in Llantwit Major, which has
00:11angered prospective tenants and local residents alike.
00:15Bailiff Glamorgan Council had initially hoped the site would be open in March this year
00:19but have since pushed the date back a number of times before finally announcing it will
00:23be welcoming tenants.
00:25One Ukrainian refugee and her son have said that they have been forced to live in a one-room
00:29hostel since July after the date was continuously pushed back by the local authority.
00:33The site was first approved using special planning permission usually used for an emergency
00:37situation and local residents have complained that many of the units are just a number of
00:42feet from their houses.
00:44There are also concerns over health provisions in the local area with many residents believing
00:48there should be a new medical facility built to cope with added pressure.
00:53Residents continue to campaign against the site and have raised money to begin legal
00:56proceedings against the council.
