Much Wenlock Look To Appoint Their New Town Crier

00:00Okay, so my name is Geoffrey Watson. I'm also known as the chainsaw bloke in

00:06Shropshire for doing my chainsaw carvings around the county and I am now

00:12or hopefully going to be appointed Much Wenlock's town crier as well. I reckon

00:17I've wanted to do it for ages probably. It's like rather than being criticized

00:22for being so loud in the pub I'll be, you know, allowed to be loud on the square

00:27instead. It's good. I really like the fact that you can come into Much Wenlock

00:33as long as, you know, everybody knows you, everybody's waving. If there's a problem

00:39like we had, my dad got ill recently for instance and he's now in the Lady

00:44Forrester's in Wenlock but everybody, because there's such a sense of

00:47community, everybody's knocking on mum's door seeing what she needs. I love that

00:52sort of small happy community where everybody helps each other, everybody

00:58knows each other. If you're in a trade everybody uses each other. I like just

01:02that aspect of it, yeah.
