Trying Five Guy's limited edition popcorn milkshake

Today we went down to the Preston's branch of Five Guys to get our hands on their new limited edition popcorn milkshake... Here's what we made of it...

00:00Hi, my name's Jack Marshall, I'm a digital reporter with the Lancashire Post and Blackpool

00:04Gazette newspapers and today I'm trying something a little bit different.

00:08We recently received some emails from Five Guys, the international burger chain famous

00:13for their burgers, fries and often milkshakes and today's video is going to be about one

00:18of their new milkshakes which they've just released.

00:21It's a limited edition milkshake which only launched on Tuesday the 22nd of October and

00:27that is a popcorn flavoured milkshake.

00:30Now I know what you're thinking because I thought the same thing, how does that work,

00:33what's that going to taste like, that sounds a bit crazy, what's going on, who am I, where

00:38am I, what am I tasting, they're all questions which I asked myself and which when I tried

00:44the milkshake I'm sure I'll be asking myself once again.

00:46But anyway, so this is a, like I say, it's a limited edition milkshake, it's popcorn

00:50flavoured, it's advertised as being a bit of a blockbuster, something a bit different,

00:54it's got popcorn syrup in it, it's allegedly got chunks of actual popcorn in there with

00:59it, so I mean if we're talking a thick gloopy milkshake, God knows how they're going to

01:02get up the straw but anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

01:05But yeah, so I thought I'd go down, try it out, see what it's like, report back to you

01:09guys and let you know what I think of what can only be described as the rather bizarre

01:13concept that is a popcorn milkshake.

01:15So yeah, I'm going to head across Preston, try it out, come join me, cheers.

01:38I'm just outside, it's not raining for once so I thought I'd stay outside and I've come

01:42over to try a limited edition popcorn milkshake.

01:45Now this is a pretty crazy thing as we were saying before, it's pretty unique, it combines

01:49popcorn syrup and real popcorn pieces, they've described it as like a show-stopping treat

01:53and it's been out since the 22nd, so let's have a bash.

01:57Hi guys, I've come away from Deepdale Retail Park just a tiny bit as it's getting a bit

02:02loud and crowded over there, so just about to make my way across to the office but thought

02:06I'd enjoy this on the way.

02:07Now as we say, this is kind of like a limited edition popcorn flavoured milkshake, which

02:12I mean when you're talking flavours of milkshake, you think the classics, you think you know

02:16the chocolate, you think vanilla, strawberry, if you're getting a bit out there you're thinking

02:19you know like oreo and stuff like that, but popcorn, never tried it before, never heard

02:24of it before, let's have a bash.

02:28It's thick, I can barely get any up.

02:33It's sweet, you can taste some serious popcorn syrup in that, I've got a bit of popcorn in

02:40there with it.

02:42Yeah, it's syrupy, I'm not really a massive fan of really ridiculously sweet things so

02:52it's not an immediate winner for myself but the creaminess helps a little bit, I mean

03:00it's crazy when the cream in something is the less sweet of the two options.

03:05I think some chunks of popcorn in here as well, which I've got to say doesn't sound

03:09massively appealing, but I don't know if I'd be rushing back to one of these but I'll

03:17tell you one thing, it certainly tastes milkshake-y and it certainly tastes of a lot of popcorn.

03:23It kind of tastes like I've poured a pint of milk in the bottom of a cinema popcorn

03:29bucket and I'm slurping it out of that, but hey if you love popcorn, this is the thing

03:34for you.

03:35Yeah, not something which will be for everyone, this is a bit of a Marmite drink but yeah

03:40it's certainly unique so go and grab one, see what you reckon, tell us what you think.
