00:00Hi, I'm Theo with Manchester World and today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about social media.
00:04We're going to ask people today how they think they would have reacted as a child to misinformation on social media.
00:09Would they have had the tools to be able to avoid it, to know where to find the correct information,
00:14or could they potentially have fallen victim to it?
00:17That's what we want to know, so let's see what you say.
00:19I acknowledge that there's always been misinformation going around.
00:22There's always been, for every sort of ten influential and positive influences, there's always one negative.
00:27So I've always been a bit wary, even when I started getting social media.
00:31I think there are lots of positives to social media.
00:34I think it helps kids to find their tribe, which was tougher in my day than I think it is now.
00:43But there's a downside as well, which is that you can lose yourself online.
00:50I think a bit of both, really. It depends on the person.
00:53I'm glad I didn't have it.
00:54Yeah, I'm glad I didn't have it, really.
00:56It's tough for young people now, isn't it? Life's hard for them now with this social media.
