00:00Over time, the Philippine Coast Guard has expanded its duties from mere coastal and high seas patrols

00:06to ensuring border security, enforcement of the country's maritime laws, and disaster response.

00:12Then again, its shining and finest hours have been in protecting the country's severity.

00:18In the Fisherfolk, PTV's Kenneth Paciente on the Commander-in-Chief,

00:22taking pride and heaping praise on his men in the PCG on this truly momentous occasion.

00:30President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the invaluable role of the Philippine Coast Guard

00:35placed in protecting the territory of the Philippines.

00:37This acknowledgement and recognition the President paid on the PCG

00:40on the commemoration of the 123rd anniversary of the institution.

00:44According to the President, due to the changing times,

00:47the PCG is no longer just a simple force patrolling the waters of the country.

00:51Instead, its responsibilities have expanded to include border patrols,

00:55enforcement of marine laws, and even responding to calamities.

00:59Indeed, your emergence as a key player in our nation's maritime security

01:05reflects your commitment to service and exemplifies how to advance

01:10while remaining true to your core mission.

01:14You protect our maritime borders, standing resolute in the face of those

01:19who would exploit our resources or threaten our way of life.

01:23The President also pointed out the PCG's contribution in enforcing laws against illegal fishing

01:28and preventing attempts to destroy the marine resources within the country's jurisdiction.

01:32These, despite climate change, high geopolitical tension,

01:35as well as the isolation and dangers in the middle of the sea.

01:38You are the vigilant stewards of peace and order upon our seas,

01:43ensuring that the rule of law prevails across our waters.

01:47In the face of tension, it is your calm resolve that prevents disputes from turning into conflicts,

01:54demonstrating to the world that embracing dialogue and cooperation is the true essence of strength.

02:01This is manifested as well by our awardees to whom I express my gratitude and my deepest congratulations.

02:09He added, no words or rewards can match the service of the PCG.

02:13Therefore, the President assured that the government will continue its efforts

02:17to improve and provide for the needs of the institution.

02:20This administration reaffirms its support to efforts that will improve your fleet and our air assets as well,

02:27to maritime domain awareness, weapons capability, and necessary infrastructure development.

02:33This will boost your capacity to respond to any operations.

02:38Be assured, you're never alone in carrying the weight of this mission.

02:42The PCG, in turn, assured to maintain the integrity of the institution

02:46and vowed uninterrupted monitoring vigilance over the nation's territory.

02:50It also thanked the Chief Executive for the support given to the Coast Guard.

02:54Our heartfelt gratitude for your unparalleled wisdom, your guidance, and inspiring leadership,

03:01and hands-on support, including in the acceleration and expansion of our modernization programs,

03:08in order for us not only to survive but to thrive in the age of AI and autonomous technology.

03:16Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr., together with First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos,

03:20wearing her uniform as Vice Admiral of the PCG Auxiliary,

03:23led the recognition of the 14 personnel of the Coast Guard who exhibited exceptional performance in their duties.
