00:18In celebrating the 74th anniversary of the establishment of the Philippine Marine Corps,

00:24President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. acknowledged the role of the so-called force,

00:28especially in the defense of the country.

00:31Their role is also in protecting the people,

00:34advancing in peace and defending the sovereignty of the Philippines.

00:38Your unwavering commitment to duty, whether on land or on sea,

00:43has been instrumental in shaping the security landscape that we continue to build on today.

00:50Your contributions not only ensured our safety,

00:53but have also reinforced the very foundation of our shared future.

00:59The President said that the responsibility of the Philippine Marine Corps is heavy,

01:03especially that he himself joined the training back then.

01:06The Philippine Marine Corps is a major asset in the government's vision of advancing the insurgency.

01:12Their role is also in times of disaster.

01:14When disaster and calamity strike,

01:17you also stand ready to bring swift relief and critical aid to our people.

01:23In these crucial moments,

01:25the Marine Corps steps forward to help us recover,

01:29striving to reduce the devastating impact of natural disasters on our communities.

01:36We recognize that the challenges you face now are growing more and more difficult.

01:43To defend our islands, to secure our shores,

01:46protect our people across the archipelago,

01:49each one of these is a pivotal task.

01:52As a specialized force for defense, especially for our countrymen,

01:57President Marcos Jr. once again reiterated the promise of the government's support

02:01in strengthening the organization through the AFP Modernization Program.

02:07We are committed to building a stronger and more comprehensive defense posture

02:12by investing in modern infrastructure, upgrading facilities,

02:16facilities that will boost your operations.

02:20We will continue to prioritize modernization,

02:23ensuring that your defense capabilities align with our nation's strategic needs.

02:29The Chief Executive also prioritized the recognition of the eight individuals

02:33for their outstanding leadership in the PMC.

02:37The President also promised safer roads for Filipinos.

02:41This was followed by a courtesy call from the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety,

02:46Gene Todd, in Malacanang.

02:48The two talked about strengthening road safety in the country

02:52anchored in the 2021-2030 Decade of Action for Road Safety Goals.

02:57The President's Gate, which is made for the roads to connect to each Filipino,

03:02will also be visited by the country in the Global Dialogue at the Ministerial Conference in Morocco.
