Curtis Jones’ huge potential shining through under Arne Slot

00:00And looking at Curtis Jones, obviously he's coming back to the headlines. He's a really

00:07impressive player. He finished the Urban Cop era in some great form. He's obviously started

00:12under Arnish, sliding in outside. He's a player who really should deserve a lot of credit

00:17for them. How impressed with him have you been and how bright is his future? Obviously,

00:22he's got a massive time ahead, especially with the international side as well.

00:26Yes, it's funny. Curtis Jones, because when he burst onto the scene, it was probably six

00:33years ago, something like that, and you were really excited. You thought he was a mercurial

00:38talent for the youth team. He was all about goals and assists, but he's morphed into a

00:45different type of player now. He was maybe more of a winger when he came to the team

00:49and now he's very much a centre of the field. When he was playing in a deeper role, he was

00:55getting forwards and breaking the lines. It was an all-out performance from him. There

01:01are sections of fans who haven't been fully convinced on Curtis Jones, but Jadon Clops

01:06always held him in the highest regard. I think it's been as pressing as maybe lacked in the

01:12past. People forget how young he is and he's had to learn. He's still 23, 24 and he's just

01:19starting to come into his own now. He's had to be patient at the start of the season.

01:27He's someone who Arnold Slott really thought highly of after coming in. You thought it was

01:32a big chance for Curtis Jones because a few of the midfielders were away on international duty and

01:37seemed to really enjoy what the head coach was doing. Then Puck picked up an injury and

01:42struggled to get his place back and Liverpool got really good options in the midfield.

01:46Curtis Jones' performance against Chelsea, a goal, won the penalty,

01:52could have potentially won a second penalty for Liverpool. As a defensive work race, I think that

01:58was superb. He was given the task of man-marking Cole Palmer. To say to someone,

02:06you're sticking to one of the best players in the Premier League over the past year,

02:11to give him that responsibility just underlines how highly Arnold Slott must think of him.

02:16Not just his ability, but the way to manage games and the way to not switch off and say,

02:27right, where's Cole Palmer? I've got to do this and then go and get forwards. You've got to really

02:33doff your cap to that. Arnold Slott's got some decisions to make when it comes to his midfield.

02:38He won't mind having these decisions to make. Curtis Jones, he's certainly on an upward

02:47trajectory, but can he now become a real regular starter? He's had bursts in the team, he's had

02:53sustained spells, but he's not yet had a season where he's been a starter for the most part.
