Arne Slot’s plans for his first pre-season at Liverpool

00:00Looking at pre-season under Arne Schlott, how much goes into his pre-seasons? Is there

00:06any sort of ideas as to how he arranges his sides to set up for the new campaign? Obviously

00:11the first pre-season under him, plenty of players still away on international duty as

00:17well. It's about getting that time with his new players and getting really familiar with

00:24everything at the new club.

00:26It's not ideal, is it, to have two tournaments going on? As you say, a lot of players are

00:31away. When Liverpool reassemble, there'll be a day for senior players who were out there

00:36for the first day. Mo Salah will be one of them, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, players

00:41like that. There's going to be a lot of players who aren't there, which is a little bit disappointing

00:47for them. I think that's why there's not going to be a massive change at Liverpool any time

00:53soon. I don't think there will be anyway. I think maybe that's a reason why Arne Schlott

00:56was appointed, because he plays at a similar formation to Jürgen Klopp. Maybe he just

01:03sways a bit more to 4-3-3-1 and 4-3-3, but it's similar, isn't it? He won't have any

01:10drastic changes, no drastic changes to the squad either. I think it'll just be about

01:15tinkering things and putting his own stamp on things. Some changes are, but all of Jürgen

01:23Klopp's attributes and what he's been lauded for, sometimes it's just natural. Things can

01:30go a little bit stale, maybe, like the pre-season, if you're doing the same thing or whatever.

01:36Sometimes a new voice is nice for a player. I'm not saying by no means that one was needed.

01:42It's nice for a new player just to add a different thing, a different voice and work

01:47with different coaches. But, yes, all of Liverpool's players will be coming back with the Copa

01:54America going on and the Euros going on. It'll be interesting when, say, Andy Robertson gets

01:59back after Scotland's exit in the competition, Hungary as well, with Dominik Subozlai. I

02:07think the pre-season tour of America is maybe when a lot of the Liverpool players will start

02:12coming back. Obviously, the Copa America is going on in the United States, so it won't

02:17be too bad for some of the players over there. Maybe they'll go on holiday to Miami or LA

02:24or something like that and then they'll link up with Liverpool from there. But, yes, it's

02:28definitely exciting for Arnie Slott and it's a good chance for all the youngsters, I suppose,

02:34who are in the round, to try and impress and say, look, I can be part of your plans.

02:39If you want to sign a player in the next position, then I'm here and I'm ready to step up.
