Key takes from Arne Slot’s first Premier League game in charge

00:00So, Will, coming off the back of the Premier League opening day and Arnie Slott's early

00:05kick-off, you know, obviously continuing with Liverpool's early kick-off sort of routine

00:10from the last few seasons under Jurgen Klopp, he wasn't a fan of it. A few Liverpool players

00:15made clear that they weren't really fans of it as well, but they got the job done, especially

00:19in that second half and, you know, they sort of played some real free-flowing football

00:24at times. What were the sort of key takes coming from Arnie Slott's first competitive

00:29game in charge? Yeah, I think the first half maybe played out, well, it clearly didn't

00:35how he would have wanted, but there were some mitigating circumstances, you know, we'd switched

00:40first game back under Premier League, the atmosphere was there and, as you say, 12-30

00:44kick-off. Liverpool had to adjust to the intensity, but yeah, the second half, as you say, they

00:51played some really, really good, slick football. I mean, that opening goal, do you know what

00:58a move that was? I think maybe that's what we're going to see, a little bit more patience

01:04rather than, you know, the hurly-burly sort of heavy-metal football that Jurgen Klopp

01:10wants us and it might take a little bit of adjusting, but I think Liverpool fans are

01:14seeing that and they'll get used to it more as the games come. I think, you know, the

01:19decision at half-time, we've seen from Arnie Slott, he's quite happy to be ruthless if

01:24he needs to be, obviously, bringing off Gelo Kwanzaa, who I actually thought Gelo Kwanzaa

01:28was doing okay. He made a really good early block and, obviously, when you see him coming

01:34off, you thought it was going to be an injury for bringing on Kanate, but, you know, he

01:38said it was a tactical decision and Liverpool weren't winning enough duels in the first

01:44half, so it quite clearly shows that if he's not happy with what he's seeing, then he'll

01:51change it and I think that was, you know, his message after the game. He was saying

01:56we've got to be a lot better than that, but it's a good building block, you know, to start

02:01from. People saying it's an easy game, what have you, but, you know, after it, but before

02:07on, people saying this could be tricky because Ipswich have got momentum, etc. So, look,

02:13three points for Gelo Kwanzaa, you'll take that. I think, yeah, it'll be a few weeks

02:20until you really see Slott's identity stamped on the team because a lot of these players

02:25have only been back a few weeks because of the international exploits over the summer,

02:29but positive so far and it's interesting to see his pursuit with Ryan Gravenberch as the

02:38number six rather than maybe going with Taro Endo. It's interesting how that develops,

02:43but so good so far and now it's on to Bremford.
