00:00The government has decided to maintain the freeze on quota applications to hire migrant

00:06workers, says Home Minister Saifuddin Nasruddin Ismail.

00:10Saifuddin said the number of foreign workers in the country, as of September 15th, is nearing

00:15the fixed limit set by the government.

00:18He said the number of foreign workers in the country was set by the economy ministry at

00:2115 percent of the total workforce in the country.

00:25According to Saifuddin, the government also does not have any plan to introduce a new

00:30foreign worker recalibration program after the previous one ended on December 31st last

00:35year.

00:36This is the second extension of the freeze on hiring migrant workers, which has been

00:40in place since March 2023.

00:43The first extension of the freeze on hiring migrant workers was in January, when Saifuddin

00:47said it was unnecessary to lift the freeze as the total quota that has already been approved

00:52is enough.
