00:00Hello, very good day to you and welcome to the latest weather update from the Met Office.

00:05We do have some wet weather on its way as we go through this weekend, but perhaps not

00:08for all of us. A weather system pushing in from the northwest is the reason why we are

00:13going to see some heavy persistent rain as we go overnight into Saturday. So you can

00:17see that rain spreading across parts of Northern Ireland into Scotland and later England and

00:21Wales as we go through the night, staying drier though towards the southeast. Temperatures

00:27aren't going to drop much because of the cloud, the rain and the brisk winds, most

00:31places staying in the mid-teen Celsius, so a warm night to come. As we look through Saturday

00:36then, a wet start across much of the UK, some heavy persistent rain across parts of Scotland

00:40and Northern Ireland, but the rain is going to clear its way eastwards and break up as

00:45it goes, so more dry weather to come as we go through into the afternoon, even some bright

00:50or sunny spells perhaps with just a few showers across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

00:55For the south and east, here it's going to be a mostly dry day, though it's been exceptionally

00:59dry here through much of the month, so some rain would be much needed. Temperatures highest

01:03towards the southeast getting to highs of around 28 or 29 Celsius, so feeling quite

01:08hot in any sunshine. As we go through the end of the day on Saturday then, still some

01:13outbreaks of rain across parts of Wales and Northern England, quite a bit of cloud here

01:16too. Elsewhere, some clear skies, so some fine sunshine to end the day across parts

01:21of Scotland and also the southeast of England, and temperatures not falling particularly

01:25low again. It could be even warmer than on Friday night for some, but notice this swathe

01:30of wet weather that's then pushing in from the west as we go through the early hours

01:33of Sunday. That's due to this frontal wave that's set to make its way eastwards across

01:37the country and could bring some persistent rain across central parts and perhaps southern

01:41areas too. It's possible that the far south of the UK will avoid the rain, so not getting

01:46much if any here, and also across parts of Scotland and maybe Northern Ireland. It is

01:50looking like a drier day than on Saturday. As we head into next week then, and some changeable

01:55weathers on the cards, but I think the worst of the rain is going to be towards the north

01:58whilst further south it's likely to stay drier and warmer. Remember, wherever you are you
