Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03
A Derbyshire Council is opposing controversial plans for a 60km powerline carried by giant pylons
00:10
because of the feared impact on the Derbyshire countryside and historic buildings.
00:14
Derbyshire County Council officials have penned a formal objection to National Grid's powerline plans
00:20
stretching from Chesterfield to Willington, passing through acres of countryside and protected landscapes
00:25
including the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
00:29
The authority fears that the powerline, while required for energy provision, would have adverse visual impacts
00:35
particularly along the landscape around Hardwick Hall.
00:38
It says the property was designed to dominate and look over the landscape to the west
00:42
making the impact of the powerline difficult to mitigate.
00:45
The local authority adds that further widespread impact on the northern part of the Amber Valley
00:50
would be hard to avoid without significant amendment to the route of the pylons
00:54
or running the network underground.
00:58
A Chesterfield McDonald's restaurant hosted a fundraising day which saw members of staff bathing in baked beans.
01:04
Team members of the Alma Leisure Park fast food chain took dips in baths full of baked beans
01:09
in aid of the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
01:12
As well as the baked bean baths there was face painting, games and competition.
01:16
On the day the event raised £716 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity
01:21
which is the fast food firm's official charity of choice
01:24
ever since the not-for-profit organisation was founded in 1989.
01:28
The charity has supported over 95,000 families across the UK.
01:32
They provide a welcoming place for families with sick children to rest
01:36
near to hospitals where their children are being treated.
