00:00We now know when Scream 7, starring Nev Campbell, will scare its way into theaters.
00:05Campbell and director Kevin Williamson took to Instagram Tuesday to share that the seventh
00:09installment in the Scream franchise will hit theaters on February 27, 2026. The actress
00:15announced she would return to the world of Scream earlier this year after sitting out Scream 6 over
00:20a salary dispute with producer Spyglass. When first announcing the news, Campbell also revealed
00:25that franchise creator Williamson would direct Scream 7. Williamson wrote the script for the
00:301996 original, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4. Scream 7 underwent a creative overhaul following
00:36last year's high-profile firing of star Melissa Barrera over social media posts she made amid the
00:41Israel-Hamas war, as well as the exit of Jenna Ortega, who quietly left the project several
00:45months earlier. In the wake of these changes, original director Christopher Landon also
00:50departed the project. Filmmaking trio Radio Silence revitalized the franchise with 2022's
00:55Scream, which featured Campbell. Fourteen months later, they released Scream 6, which broke the
01:00franchise's record for biggest opening weekend with a $44.5 million debut, on its way to grossing
01:06$166.3 million globally. For more on this story, head to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
