Group climb the Big One for James Bulger Memorial Trust

The mum of the late James Bulger, Denise Fergus is in Blackpool to watch her husband Stuart climb the Big One alongside 7 others for the James Bulger Memorial Trust.

00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Aimee Seddon. The mum of the late James Bulger, Denise Fergus,

00:07was in Blackpool this evening to watch her husband, Stuart, climb the Big One, alongside

00:12seven others, to raise money for the James Bulger Memorial Trust. In the following video,

00:17the organiser of the fundraising event, Blackpool resident Liam Hailwood, who is an ambassador

00:22of the charity, spoke to Denise and Stuart about why the money raised is so important

00:27for the trust, before he himself had to climb the rollercoaster.

00:30Hi, I'm Liam, I'm a proud charity ambassador for the James Bulger Memorial Trust, and the

00:35group behind us have just walked the Big One. Denise, how proud are you of this group that

00:41have just gone up them 420 steps?

00:44I can't believe he's done it. I mean, you're not saying it, you're just watching it. It's

00:48amazing to watch them doing what they've done. All I can do is thank them for raising the

00:52funds for the charity. Every penny that comes into the charity is so much appreciated. No

00:56one understands, you know, just how much time and effort that you've taken into the charity.

01:01You know yourself, every penny helps. Where we've got the large, the ground rents going

01:07up year by year, and it's over £8,000 this year that we've got our payout, so this all

01:13goes towards that and the maintenance.

01:15And Stuart, I know obviously we've been sponsored by Waterside Hotels today, so I know you just

01:21want to say thank you to Jake, obviously he walked it today, Jake from Waterside Hotels.

01:26How proud are you? We've raised like £1,200 so far, the total keeps going up. How proud

01:31are you of that amount that we've raised today for the charity?

01:34It's really great to see, obviously it's not just the community from where the charity

01:37is based, but obviously the people of Blackpool and stuff like that, for them to take us into

01:41the heart and to want to help raise the funds for the charity. It's great, it's fantastic.

01:44And the local businesses and stuff like that as well, it's brilliant.

01:48Well we want to say thank you to each and every one of the group behind us, it's my

01:51turn now, I'm about to go up, so I'll see you soon, and you enjoy your pint in the pub.
