Dons and workers at University of Eldoret join nationwide strike

Lecturers and other workers at the University of Eldoret have joined the ongoing strike at all universities to push for the implementation of their 2021 - 2025 collective bargaining agreement.

00:00We want to make the universities great again. We want to serve our clients.

00:05And we can't accept that we use models like the Convention, like Metering, like KPI.

00:14Now that we are receiving less money because the capitation is entitled for the third year and the fourth year.

00:22What happens when the fourth year are gone? It will remain now with half of that figure.

00:27And then after the fourth and third year have left the university, what will happen again?

00:32Then the capitation will be normal.

00:35Now, are we working for wages or salaries?

00:44Now, we want to redeem these universities.

00:47We want to see the dons and the staff unions have to be respected.

00:52Students who are now abandoned, regardless of their status, have been banned.

01:00Some of them cannot have the dignity.

01:03Even today they are colleagues because they are classified as needy and poor.

01:09In short, needy is poor.

01:11So, what we want to tell the university management, don't go and please their status.

01:18Just come and present the real things on the table.

01:22So, as we are back on this, we wish to say...
