So we're here at Blue Bell View in Oswestry and Beverly you've got some of your your grafters,
00:05
your workers with you. Oh yes. So you've been raising money for charity yeah? We have yes.
00:12
And so you work here as well-being and activities? Correct yes. And who've we got with you then? Who've
00:18
we got? Joyce is it? Yes. And who's this other lady? Barbara. Hello Barbara. So you've been,
00:26
which charities have you been raising money for Beverly? We've been raising money for SANS,
00:31
Sudden, sorry the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death UK charity. How did you get into raising money
00:38
for that charity then? We were having a little chat off camera earlier, how did you get into
00:43
raising money? Well I've got a bad back and I needed to do some exercise and I took up swimming
00:51
12 months ago and to keep me motivated I decided to do a sponsored swim
01:00
and so that's how I ended up at Lake Coniston. So you were saying in your former life you used
01:05
to work for the police force and you came across first hand a lot of quite sad tales didn't you?
01:11
Yes I did. Baby deaths and stuff. Yes and I attended a lot of cock deaths. Yeah. Also I've got three
01:19
very good friends whose babies were born asleep. Yeah. And that was, that touched me as well.
01:27
So the swimming, it's just gone from strength to strength, that's what the medals are isn't it?
01:32
Round your neck there. So what are some of the swims you've done? Well this is the chill swim
01:37
at Lake Coniston. Yeah. That's five and a quarter miles. Yeah. Coniston end to end. Wow. This one's
01:44
Rutland Water in Leicestershire. Yeah. This was two kilometers and it was the width of it
01:51
here. Fantastic. And this is a five kilometer swimming medal from Sands. Great stuff. And you've
01:58
been, the girls have been helping you. What have you been doing here with the girls then at the
02:01
home to try and raise money? Right let me introduce you to Mandy the Mannequin. Mandy the
02:07
Mannequin. She's just here. We've been making these lovely brooches. Let's have a look.
02:14
Fantastic. Wow okay. Blankets. Yeah. And we decided as a collective that we're going to
02:26
make poppies. Yeah. In aid of the Royal British Legion. Okay what and then just sell them via
02:32
like your links that you've got. We're going to sell them through the links that we've already
02:37
made. Yeah. And through staff will buy and hopefully visitors will buy and it's a minimum
02:46
donation of two pounds fifty. So Joyce you were knitting poppies when I came in just weren't you?
02:52
Yeah I've got one there. And you were saying you can get two a day you can get through can't you?
02:57
Yeah yeah. And knitting is that your game as well then? Yes. Yeah yeah. I enjoy knitting yes.
03:05
It's meant to be a very relaxing thing to do isn't it knitting?
03:08
Yes it is quite relaxing. I wouldn't say I could do two a day. Yeah.
03:17
Yeah Joyce gets her picture early and that's how she gets to do her day.
03:22
So has it been fun being involved in the activity and helping a charity at the same time?
03:29
Have you enjoyed doing the work like and helping the charity yeah? Yes that's right yeah. Yeah
03:34
definitely good job. What do you think of the girls then Beverly? I think they're absolutely
03:39
amazing. Yeah. And I do hope if I reach their age I'm as full of them and vigour as they are.
03:48
Well I hope Joyce doesn't mind me saying she's 99 in a couple of months isn't she?
03:53
I hope you don't mind me saying that Joyce. Not yet. Not yet but in a couple of months
03:58
and still doing charity work at 99. I mean that's that's a fantastic isn't it you know?
04:03
I love I love these two ladies. Yeah. They're absolutely brilliant. Yeah have you heard that
04:09
you're getting the thumbs up from Beverly she said she loves you. Good work. Well thank you
04:14
ladies for all your hard work and I'm sure Sans the charity very worthy charity thanks you too.
04:20
Yeah and the Royal British Legion of course. Yeah great causes. All the best ladies thank you.
04:27
Thank you very much.
