00:00So guys we're here tonight because there's been a fundraising match to raise money all in tribute
00:05to a special girl that was your daughter Ellie. Just tell us about Ellie what kind of person
00:11was she? She was just she was amazing she was like full of life yeah you know she's just the
00:19kindest you know most popular girl she you know everyone loved her. Well I was chatting to some
00:25of her football friends she made a big impression it sounds not just off the pitch but on the pitch
00:29as well captain in the team. Yeah she was fearless yeah yeah yeah and she was a Liverpool fan that's
00:37that's your fault dad. So um is there anything we can we can learn from her passing it was pneumonia
00:46wasn't it? Yeah it was. Is there any words of advice in terms of trying to recognize symptoms or anything
00:55or is it just you know no one's going to know if it's coming? She didn't really have any symptoms she had a sore throat on the Tuesday
01:01yeah yeah it was it's yeah it's not it's just one of these illnesses um they just say you can take hold of you
01:11yeah and because she was a she was a small you know she was a small frame there was nothing to her
01:18and I don't think she had the uh the physical strength to fight on herself I mean yeah I don't
01:25think there's any early warning signs or we just have to hope and pray that yeah yeah
01:32the least people that happens to the fewer the better yeah so this the money from this charity football
01:38match is going to a charity which one that's going to to wish which helped bereaved parents with the
01:44sudden loss of a teenager and so have they supported yourselves then guys yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah in
01:52actual fact they've uh I've I've been seeing seeing a uh a counsellor yeah yeah and two wish actually
01:59paid for that so oh wow so that's that's pretty good you know that's 10 sessions they gave me as well so
02:06how did you come across to wish incidentally just through losing Ellie it was at the hospital
02:12they kind of said look there's this group yeah yeah yeah it's fantastic as well I mean they uh
02:18what they do is it's obviously because you're going through the worst time yeah yeah and
02:25they just give you you know you get like snippets of yeah you know with the hair yeah give you like
02:32footprints imprints of their hands yeah clay and stuff that you wouldn't you just it's in
02:38such a terrible blur yeah yeah it's just amazing they give out memory boxes don't they yeah yeah
02:45all the kids got a memory box and it's the number two then wish isn't it that's how they yeah so if
02:51people want to find out more and um donate to that charity because you know who knows when any of us
02:57will as parents will will will be in that situation well guys i'm i'm glad that um you know you're
03:03managing to support the charity that that's helped yourselves and um thank you for doing so for all of
03:08us really for all of us thank you guys cheers thank you thank you so girls just introduce yourselves
03:14what's your names i'm ruby i'm phoev and you were very good friends with Ellie weren't you yeah and you've
03:22even had a little tribute tattoo is that right yeah let's have a look then what have you had um
03:27look at that the 12. so that was her shirt number yeah
03:34what's the what's the name of the team it's the really really really lionesses i don't understand
03:40the 12 shirt has been retired from the team as a tribute so what was first off what was she like as a
03:46player yeah yeah yeah she's always there in the fans like yeah getting back stuff to the guys and
04:06what was she like as a person then i mean when she's a captain you know was she off the pitch was she was
04:11she soft and gentle yeah she was she was an amazing person yeah really funny always easy
04:20and i guess you girls at quite a young age have had to learn quite a you know a lesson in life really
04:29you know um yeah does it has it kind of taught you that whole try and live every day as best as you
04:35can is that what you took from it like yeah yeah yeah just appreciate that every day well thank you
04:49for chatting to us ladies thank you cheers
04:51to to wish and from there we've got gorgeous george hello gorgeous george and um who've we got the
05:03gorgeous george my name's hella mcspadden i am a counseling support and outreach coordinator and
05:10i'm ali parry and i'm the immediate support coordinator for westmercia so we've heard a
05:14little bit off um ellie's parents about how to wish have basically been amazing for them but just um
05:21so what do to wish do exactly in your own words really basically we're a bereavement charity that
05:27supports anyone who's been impacted by the sudden unexpected death of a child or a young person up to
05:32the age of 25 yeah and uh they that ellie's parents found out about you guys and what you do via
05:40the hospital is that kind of the traditional way that hospitals will guide people very much so yes
05:45yeah um when something tragic happens in in a hospital um basically we have memory boxes yeah
05:54we can then pass on to families and the connection very often starts from there yeah yeah people are
06:01referred into us usually by hospital departments police coroner's officers um but also self-referrals as
06:08well and um i take it you know this it's a great amount anything like this just helps helps you guys
06:15to continue that good work absolutely amazing yeah yeah can just yeah it's fundamental to obviously
06:21support the families um so anything that is donated is absolutely fantastic and it just helps us to keep
06:27on providing that support that families you know desperately need within that initial um grieving process
06:33yeah well thank you guys for all the hard work you do and thank you to gorgeous george as well for
06:38putting a bit of color on on the evening cheers gorgeous george
