00:08Traveling Leisure reports the TSA proposed allowing federal agencies some flexibility in enforcing the May 7, 2025 deadline,
00:16according to a notice of proposed rulemaking filed with the Federal Register.
00:20REAL ID is an enhanced driver's license needed to go through airport security starting in 2025.
00:27The rule provides important security enhancements, but travelers can still use alternatives like passports.
00:33While the deadline remains, full enforcement will begin by May 2027.
00:38Travelers may experience delays at checkpoints if they don't meet the requirements.
00:42The public can submit feedback on the proposed rule until October 15.
