00:00We appreciate your attendance today. Obviously it's Sandown Sam's final sale.

00:06Graham's been breeding rams I think since 1978 and their family's had 80 years

00:14history with elders so we really appreciate that and elders have been grateful for the

00:21relationship through the years. Graham started holding the sale in 1978 which was

00:28merino and pole dorsals and he also had some scimitar cattle over the years which he tells

00:34me he won champion bull and cow at the same crawl show which was never done before. He's taught me

00:41a lot over the years. He had a really good eye for sheep. He was pretty influential in the pole

00:46dorsal breed in Western Australia. Brought over a ram 205 from New Zealand. A lot of good things

00:54come out of New Zealand and over the years he sort of had a pretty big influence on a lot of

01:02studs through Western Australia and the sheep industry as a whole. In 1998 he ventured into

01:11Sam's which is why we're here today. In 2003 and 2004 he brought over 2,000 embryos from South

01:18Africa which was not a cheap exercise. He stands by the sheep. Like I say he definitely knows his

01:26sheep. He's taught me a lot about breeding and these stood out to him and he's always backed

01:32them in. Mainly the maternal characteristics and obviously the great carcass and the carcass has

01:39been clear in the WAMCO competitions over the years. They've usually taken out the top six

01:45places. I've decided to retire because I've got to the age where they think that it's about time I

01:52retire. And what's been the highlight of the sale today? Highlight of the sale today is one of my

01:59first clients or my first client ever was here just to celebrate her with me and some of the

02:05older clients that have been with me for quite a few years have come back just to see the last sale.

02:11And was it a little bit sad to see some regular buyers not in attendance? Yeah very much so yes

02:18and I think that's from the lack of the confidence that the live sheep trade is

02:25exercises put into the industry that there's a lot of lack of confidence in the industry at the

02:30present time which shouldn't be there. Lambs are bringing good good money again and I can see a

02:37very good future for them. And you've had 50 years of breeding in the sheep industry what have been

02:43some major highlights? Major highlights, I bought a ram by eye from New Zealand

02:53a bulled horse ram and it's become the top of lamb now for two years and I sold a lot of

02:59semen around Australia and it's brought to me I've done exceptionally well in certain stages.

03:07Fantastic congratulations on a long history of breeding in this state will you be sad to not

03:14have another annual on property sale? Oh yeah I'll miss it yeah I'm thinking I'll

03:21be I'll be around at shows and sales and still being involved. Great.
