00:15In the village of Sem, violent riots against major companies' oil pollution push three
00:19different pairs of strangers to seek extreme measures to ensure their escape to a foreign
00:23land.
00:24Among them are a young pregnant couple, Abby and Oyin, whose illicit affair, paired with
00:28the anger of the latter's father, has pushed them to run away from home.
00:31However, with the odds stacked against them on a ship with few friends and many foes,
00:35can the lovers survive and start their family together?

00:43While negative local sentiments continue to rise against oil companies for the part they
00:47play in environmental pollution in the village, two young lovers, Abby and Oyin, face their
00:52own problems.
00:53Although the couple has been together for a while in secret, Oyin's father, Abai, does
00:57everything in his power to keep them apart after learning about their relationship.
01:01Worse yet, in an effort to convince her father, Oyin reveals her pregnancy, which heightens
01:06the man's decision to remove Abby from his daughter's life.
01:09As a result, he locks the woman up in her room and leaves to hunt Abby down.
01:13However, Abby manages to rescue Oyin from her imprisonment once he learns about her
01:17father's plans to have her baby aborted.
01:19Nonetheless, the pair have no idea where to go afterward.
01:23Worse yet, the military arrives in the village, looking for the perpetrators behind an attack
01:27on their base the previous night, which killed one of their soldiers.
01:31As such, Abby and Oyin flee to the abandoned docks alongside a number of villagers to save
01:35themselves from the military's arrest.
01:37Consequently, the couple's paths cross with two other pairs of strangers.
01:42Degbe and Doma are known protesters across the village who are truly responsible for
01:45the attack on the military camp.
01:48On the other hand, brothers Tenika and Alita are simply looking to flee the village and
01:52travel abroad in search of a better life.
01:54For the same reason, the brothers have a contact, Mr. P, who can safely stow them away on a boat.
02:00By then, Oyin's father spreads false rumors about Abby's position as the protester's leader,
02:04effectively putting a bounty on his head.
02:07Therefore, all six of them have pressing reasons to flee.
02:10Thus, after each pays Mr. P for passage, he allows them to become stowaways on the ship.
02:16Even though Mr. P tells them he will take care of one-time meals for them, he ends up
02:19faking an injury and aborting the ship with simple instructions to the group to never
02:23leave their cell.
02:24As a result, in due time, in Mr. P's absence, Abby and the others grow hungry, with only
02:29a few resources left to them.
02:31Eventually, the hunger becomes too much for Degbe, who decides to traverse outside the
02:35cell in search of food.
02:37Soon, Abby also follows after him when Oyin develops a fever.
02:41Even though Abby manages to stay hidden, Degbe gets caught by other passengers easily and
02:45gives up his fellow travelers.
02:47Therefore, once the ship's owner, Igor, realizes that Degbe and the others are unknown passengers
02:52with no one to vouch for them, he suspects them to be spies.
02:56As a result, Igor swiftly kills Degbe and holds the others hostage to learn about the
02:59nature of the trip.
03:01Those aboard his ship who disagree with his methods leave, but even though they contact
03:04the authorities about the situation, Degbe bribes them into silence.
03:08Thus, in the end, Oyin and the others remain trapped in the middle of the ocean on the
03:12vessel of a madman.
03:14When Abby and Oyin leave their homes to seek safe passage to an unknown land, they have
03:18no idea what to expect from the journey.
03:20Neither has been away from their homes for any substantial amount of time.
03:24Yet, in their situation, they have no choice but to flee.
03:28Oyin's father is vehemently against his daughter getting involved with a man, let alone marrying
03:32one.
03:33Years ago, Abai and his wife were having trouble getting pregnant with a child.
03:37As such, the wife prayed to the river goddess every day to bless them with a baby.
03:42Therefore, when Oyin was finally born, she was promised to the water goddess.
03:47For the same reason, the elders believed that if she ever took a husband or had a child,
03:50it would bring about her death.
03:52As such, when Abai discovers Oyin is pregnant, he wants her to abort the baby and cut ties
03:57with Abby.
03:58The father's superstition is so strong he condemns Abby to a cruel fate due to the same.
04:03Nevertheless, Abai and the elders' fear comes true as Abby and Oyin find themselves aboard
04:08Igor's nightmarish ship.
04:10Igor is a ruthless criminal who doesn't want anything to come between his business.
04:14Furthermore, he seems to take joy in inflicting misery upon other people, as depicted by his
04:18senseless killing and compulsion to skin his victims alive.
04:22Doma's death soon follows after his comrade, with the others back in a storage closet as
04:26hostages.
04:27After nightfall, Igor plays a sick game with the traveling brothers, Alito and Tenika,
04:32and forces them to fight each other to death to ensure the others' freedom.
04:35However, even after Alito sacrifices himself for his younger brother, Igor shoots Tenika
04:40in the leg and hauls him off board.
04:42Meanwhile, Abby manages to stay hidden and out of sight.
04:46The following morning, Abby seeks Oyin out and kills Igor's men in the process.
04:50Nevertheless, the other man is faster and uses Oyin as bait to bring Abby out from hiding.
04:55In the final showdown between them, Abby attempts to compel the other man to spare his girlfriend's
05:00life.
05:01Nonetheless, Igor only enjoys Abby's suffering, and after realizing he loves Oyin desperately,
05:05Igor puts a bullet in the woman's head, effectively killing both Oyin and her baby.
05:10Afterward, an emotionally distraught Abby fights Igor off and manages to come out of
05:14the battle alive.
05:15As such, Abby remains the sole survivor of his group of stowaways.
05:19In the end, Abby finds stacks of Igor's money aboard the ship and returns to his village
05:23with the help of the original captain.
05:26At the village, Abby distributes his newfound wealth with the family of his co-travelers
05:29and discovers that Tenika is still alive.
05:32Lastly, Abby discloses the tragic news of Oyin's death to her father, whose equal parts
05:37devastated and enraged.
05:39Abai has always believed in the prophecy of the river goddess.
05:42Therefore, he blames Abby for his daughter's violent death.
05:46To the father, had Abby never entered Oyin's life, she could have remained safe and sound.
05:51Yet, Abai is unwilling to understand that her daughter had always wanted to blaze her
05:54own path and choose her destiny despite the consequences.
05:58Ultimately, Abby leaves the village, which holds too many memories of Oyin, the love
06:02of his life.
06:03Simultaneously, Abai tries to storm his house with a gun, just barely managing to miss the
06:08other man's departure.
06:09Thus, even though Oyin passed away, the sting of her death will continue to haunt those
06:13who loved her, especially her partner, Abby.
