NBA champion Dwight Howard tells THR that him and dance partner Daniella Karagach haven't started their rehearsals yet! Plus, he reveals how his skills could carry over in the ballroom on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

00:00Congratulations. What a pairing. How have rehearsals been going so far?

00:04We haven't started actual dance rehearsals.

00:06No, we've just been talking and building chemistry and stuff like that.

00:11And then this weekend and next week we're going to start the process of the mirror ball.

00:17Okay, is that the process? No dancing for the first two rehearsals?

00:21No, that's definitely not the process. It's not volunteering.

00:25Yeah, it didn't happen like it was supposed to happen. It was my fault.

00:30See, what happened was I was trying to work on my dance moves and I tripped up over my foot,

00:34hit the ground, hurt my head, so I had to wait a couple days to get my bearings back right

00:39so I could get back out here and dance, so you know.

00:41He's just being a good dad and he's going to be there for his kids on the weekend and then he flies back over.

00:48That's true. Yeah, my son just started playing football, my daughter's now playing volleyball,

00:53so I didn't want to miss their first couple of games and then I go to their games and then head out to work.

00:59For sure. Okay, well once you guys get to work, how would you rate your dance skills on a scale from one to ten?

01:08I'm going to go with about an eight. Yeah.

01:12Daniela's face says otherwise. What would you rate?

01:17I can't even tell you. I haven't seen them yet.

01:22Listen, you have a lot to live up to because you gave yourself an eight.

01:25Eight, like club dancing. Like, I got a nice one-two step. Like, I can hit that.

01:37I got the church hand and I got the legs going. I'm good. That's all you need right here.

01:43All right, Danny, what can we do with that?

01:45I can do a lot with that. I promise you.

01:49Is there any advice that you gave him about being a part of this journey in general?

01:53Yeah, honestly, everything happens so fast that I truly want to just enjoy week by week.

01:59I don't want to think of the final. I don't want to think of the mirror ball. I just want to have a good time every week.

02:04Yes, that's it. You got to have the most fun as possible, but also work extremely hard.

02:12And I think you have two of the hardest working dancers in the history of Dancing with the Stars together.

02:22And actually, we got to go right now because we got to get ready to dance.

02:29Listen, I know the athletes tend to do pretty well this season.

02:31So how do you think that your skills are going to carry over?

02:35Hopefully carry over is great, but I'm going to trust her, trust her lead, follow her lead and go from there.

02:44And hopefully at the end it'll bring us that that mirror ball.

02:48Yeah, we're rooting for you guys.

02:50So don't let us down because you gave yourself an eight.

02:52Remember, so at the end of the season, I hope I'll be able to give myself a ten.
