00:00PAS has accused the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism,
00:08Sikhism and Taoism of Islamophobia after it criticized plans to place JAKIM officers in
00:13every government department, suggesting the move could be unconstitutional.
00:18PAS Secretary General Takyuddin Hassan claimed the MCCBCHST's legal interpretation is flawed
00:24and accused them of intentionally sowing discord among different faiths in Malaysia.
00:29He cited the Interfaith Council's previous opposition to amendments to the Sharia Courts
00:34Act 1965 as evidence of their alleged Islamophobic stance.
00:40Takyuddin argued that the Council's position is based on assumptions and sentiments that
00:44challenge Muslims' rights to freely practice their faith.
00:48He urged MCCBCHST to return to its original purpose of fostering inter-religious understanding
00:54and harmony.
00:55MCCBCHST had expressed concerns over JAKIM officers potentially influencing government
01:01decisions and maintained that JAKIM's proposed role could fall outside the constitutional
01:05scope of Islam as defined by the courts.
01:08However, Religious Affairs Minister Naeem Mokhtar said the officers would only be organizing
01:13Islamic religious programs and not influence policy.
