Barbados Royals women are still celebrating after lifting the Women Caribbean Premier League title for a second time running.


In the final at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy they took down the Trinbago Knight Riders women by four wickets. Alliyah Alleyne was the chief destroyer as she took four wickets to limit her opponents to 93 for eight before they chased down the score with five overs remaining.

00:40wicked keeper batter Kisia Knight who hit 17 helped TKR to 93 from their 20
00:45overs. Shikha Panday hitting a top score of 28. In reply the Royals got a great
00:52start from Haley Matthews as Barbados looked to be cruising to victory.
00:56Matthews and Sri Lankan batter Chamari Atapatu who hit 39 not out got them to
01:0148. 16-year-old spinner Samara Ramnath got the big wickets of Matthews for 13
01:09and Kiana Joseph for 14 but was it too late? TKR women were clearly fighting
01:15back. Royals slipped from 48 without loss to 87 for 6. Panic stepping in
01:33despite several overs remaining. Atapatu got the winning run in the 15th
01:43over to see the Royals home with five overs to spare as the Barbados Royals
01:49recapture the women's CPL title. Matthews walking away with a play of the
01:54tournament award after scoring 147 runs and taking 11 wickets. Sergio Dufort
