The St, Kitts and Nevis Patriots grabbed a thrilling one wicket victory against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to knock off the start of the men's edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Led by a knock of 39 from Kyle Mayers, the Patriots got home off the last ball despite four wickets from Medium pacer Shamar Springer.

00:00The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons were aiming to get a good start to the
00:05tournament however Teddy Bishop was taken out by pacer Anrich Nokia. There
00:10was a solid partnership between Pakistan opening batsman Fakhar Zaman and Kofi
00:15James. Zaman was taking the attack to the bowlers he cracked five fours and two
00:20sixes. On 67 Tabrez's Shamsi broke the partnership with Zaman dismissed for 43.
00:26In the 11th over Ashmead Ned then removed James for 22 as the Falcons
00:32reached 80 for 3. At the end of the 14th over they crossed at the 100 mark but
00:38lost to Sam Billings for 18. 17-year-old wicked keeper batsman Jewel Anju put in
00:45a remarkable innings at the back end. He smacked 50 from just 30 balls and not
00:50out. A talent for the future. Fabian Allen doing his part with 24 of 17 the
00:56Falcons rising to 163 for 4 from their 20 overs. In reply two familiar faces
01:02opened for the Patriots Evan Lewis and Andre Fletcher. In the fifth over on 37
01:09Fletcher lost his way Imad Waseem gets him for 25. Lewis continued to bat on in
01:15what would be a crucial partnership with Kyle Mayers. They picked up the odd
01:19boundary and kept the scoreboard ticking over. When Lewis was dismissed for 29 the
01:25Patriots were still in it after 8 overs. Shamar Springer jumped into action
01:30though. He removed the dangerous South African Tristan Stubbs for 2, Odin
01:35Smith for 29 and Riley Rousseau without scoring. 111 for 5 in the 14th over.
01:42Mayers took the Patriots to 133 before he had to go with 4.1 overs
01:48remaining. The batsmen left to found the going tough to get the remaining runs.
01:54Drake's continued fighting with 17 runs. It came down to the last two batters
02:00Nokia and Shamsi with one ball to get the win and Nokia gets it. 164 for 9
02:07and the Patriots off to a winning start in Game 1 of the 2024 edition of the
