Hitting the Jersey shores for Labor Day weekend

Labor Day weekend is already off to a busy start for Wildwood, New Jersey, on Aug. 30. AccuWeather's Ali Reid visited the vacation spot where many people take in the beach fun with summer almost over.

00:36You know I'm loving this assignment this morning Mac and Mancos pizza, this is what I grew up on

00:42This is my childhood Wildwood and Ocean City boardwalks

00:45These were the places to come to and certainly many people are still feeling that same way

00:50I was actually here yesterday to really kick off Labor Day now continuing into today

00:56I mean just twist my arm right management said Ali you got to head down to

01:00Wildwood, New Jersey for the next couple of days, and I said all right no problem there. What a great assignment right unfortunately

01:07Today not so great of a morning, right? It's not raining. So that's a positive

01:11So we are still seeing many people enjoying the boardwalk this morning

01:15But it's not gonna be as ideal as what we saw yesterday and what we're going to see tomorrow

01:20So at least we've got something to look forward to right Saturday is expected to be

01:25Absolutely beautiful yesterday great too as I mentioned when I was down here capturing this video that you're seeing here

01:31We were treated with sunny skies temperatures in the 80s and while it yes

01:35It was a windy day the beach was packed with families soaking up the Sun on the boardwalk

01:41It was your classic Wildwood scene people lined up for ice cream cones saltwater taffy and those famous boardwalk fries

01:47The rides on Maury's pier were in full swing the Ferris wheel and roller coasters drawing relatively long lines

01:54Well into the evening

01:55I even had the chance to catch up with a number of those families yesterday even speaking to a few teens

02:00That you know are less than thrilled to be heading back to school in less than a week. Take a listen

02:06Probably gonna soak up the last days and go to the beach the waterpark. Are you sad?

02:11Did we go back to school? Yes, we'll start for you guys September 4. It's nice, but it's like a little windy

02:16It's been perfect. Yeah, perfect. So it's like this, but

02:20Hopefully it doesn't change and we get no rain, but to rain tomorrow

02:23But the wind feels good with a little bit of the sun, so

02:29Overall what a great day yesterday again today isn't going to look like what you're seeing in this video down here in Wildwood

02:35But Saturday is cracking out to be gorgeous

02:38Which is why many people are thrilled to be heading into Labor Day weekend and to be honest

02:44It's really not stopping people this morning from getting out and enjoying this beautiful morning here again. Not ideal

02:50It's a little cloudy here a little muggy, and there is that chance of rain later on this evening

02:55But I don't think that's gonna stop anyone here in New Jersey from enjoying this weekend

03:01No, absolutely not Ali. We're very jealous a lot of us have good memories being in Wildwood specifically
