00:00It is a very natural cause in the National Football League to look at a contract extension
00:08in one place for one individual and forecast what it might mean elsewhere around the National
00:14Football League.
00:16That's of course what we did yesterday, CeeDee Lamb signing a four-year $136 million extension
00:22with the Dallas Cowboys, $34 million per year, the second highest paid non-quarterback in
00:29the history of the NFL, and as Donny Rightside often does, his first thought when wideout
00:35X gets paid, what about wideout Y?
00:38That's Jamar Chase in Cincinnati.
00:41The difference, however, though, is Chase is entering year number four, two more years
00:46left on his rookie deal, CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson were entering the final year of
00:51their contract in 2024.
00:54But whether it's Jamar Chase, DRS, or maybe Brandon Ayuk in San Francisco, who is also
00:59entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal, what do you think Lamb's deal means
01:05for those two wide receivers?
01:07It should mean more money.
01:08Now let's just focus on Cincinnati, and again, I think Brandon Ayuk's deal is going to get
01:12done here.
01:13It's interesting that he never got traded, even though the deals were in place, so you
01:15knew he wanted to stay a 49er.
01:17Let's set him aside for just a moment.
01:19CeeDee Lamb got paid yesterday.
01:20Look at the rest of the wide receivers who wanted to get paid this year.
01:23They all got paid.
01:24So if you are the Philadelphia Eagles, or the Miami Dolphins, or the Minnesota Vikings,
01:28you said to yourself, you players, talking about the wide receivers, we love you.
01:33You're integral parts of our offense right now and into the future.
01:36We want to pay you accordingly so you're happy, so you know you're worth it, and you're going
01:41to perform at the highest level with nothing in the back of your mind that goes, oh my
01:44goodness, I just had a game that had four catches for 42 yards.
01:48That's going to impact me in free agency.
01:50Go out there and play as hard as you can and give it your best effort.
01:52The reason I bring that up is the Cincinnati Bengals told their two young wide receivers
01:57in their prime right now, they told Tee Higgins, you're not part of our plans.
02:01We are not securing a long-term deal.
02:02I'll pay you this year.
02:04You'll get decent money, but next year, we're just going to cut you loose because you're
02:07not in our plans.
02:08That doesn't make Tee Higgins feel at this point.
02:10And then if you're Jamara Chase going, the organization telling you right now, hey, we
02:14really like you here.
02:15We're just not going to pay you, which, hear me out on this once again, Cincinnati, you
02:20wait on Jamara Chase, the price of the brick goes higher, higher, and higher every week,
02:27every month, every year, and all you do is piss off your high-end talent.
02:31What are we doing here?
02:32If Cincinnati, for me then, settled Tee Higgins on a long-term contract, settled Jamara Chase
02:37on a long-term contract, they signed Joe Burrow to a long-term deal.
02:41That's three players that every time you take the field, you have a legitimate chance to
02:45win now and in the future.
02:47It's a clown organization doing things backwards, and that's why I'm down on the Cincinnati
02:52Bengals in 2024.
02:54Any company you work for, take care of your assets.
02:57You will get better performance on the field, and also, they can tell their friends, you
03:01want to come to Cincinnati.
03:03My owner is awesome.
03:04He takes care of you.
03:05What's the next free agent going to look like or guy that gets drafted in the top 10, the
03:09Bengals go, man, hopefully in five years, I get out of here and I can get paid by somebody else.
