00:00The Philippine ROTC Games 2024 was formally opened in Cavite.
00:04Some senators are hoping that it will greatly help the Filipino athletes
00:09who will be the battery of the Philippines in international games such as the Olympics.
00:14Daniel Manalas was in the report.
00:15Rise and shine, Daniel.
00:20The Philippine ROTC Games National Finals is open.
00:23It was hosted by cadet athletes from various schools in the country.
00:28The aim of the program is to introduce the different faces of the ROTC,
00:32not just the military.
00:35There are many challenges in our national security,
00:39including the territorial defense that is happening in the West Philippine Sea,
00:45that we need to prepare well.
00:47The main goal of this is to produce a lot of national athletes
00:53and to produce new leaders of our society,
00:58who are of the Filipino youth.
01:02Senator Gingoy Estrada was one of those who attended the event and there was a surprise for the athletes.
01:07To all the champions of each event, basketball, volleyball, I will give P60,000.
01:18Okay, P20,000.
01:20Senator Francis Tolentino also believes that the athletes participating in the Olympics will not be far behind.
01:28674 military athletes participated in the Paralympics, 25 countries.
01:35For us, the military members are Giovanni, the rowing in the Philippine Navy,
01:41of course, Neste Petesio, Coast Guard, Yumer Marcial, a member of the military.
01:49All of them are proving that what we are doing is right.
01:52Even the youths are joining sports,
01:55the youths are joining beauty and brains.
01:57We can see the beauty of this program.
01:59Not only for the men, but for everyone, the Reserve Officers Training Corps or ROTC.
02:05That is the message of Althesa Patetico, the founder of Miss ROTC Philippines 2024.
02:12First year BS Accountancy and Applied Economics student,
02:15Althesa is from De La Salle University in Manila.
02:19Althesa admitted that she is also nervous, but she wants to prove something.
02:23However, that's when I realized by joining ROTC that ROTC is not only for men,
02:28but also for women and for each and everyone.
02:30So I believe that you should not be afraid of ROTC,
02:33rather, you should be proud that there is a ROTC program that can help us to improve as people.
02:38The ROTC Games National Finals will last until August 24.
