Amazon has opened a new fulfilment centre in Leeds, which will create more than 2,000 jobs in the coming months. The online giant is investing £500,000 in the site at Gateway45 on the south eastern edge of the city.

00:10site at Gateway 45 on the southeastern edge of the city, which will use advanced technology
00:16across three floors. The company is recruiting for jobs including engineers, HR and IT professionals,
00:23finance and health and safety staff, as well as employees who pick, pack and ship orders.
00:29It is Amazon's 31st UK fulfilment centre and is located less than 10 miles from its
00:34Wakefield centre, which started operations in October 2022.
00:38James Mason from the Western North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce said this further significant
00:43investment from Amazon is a confirmation of their strategic location for the logistics
00:48industry as a whole and a ringing endorsement for the strength and skill set of the workforce
00:53in our region.
00:54Amazon said it has invested more than £56 billion in the UK since 2010.
