Tua Tagovailoa told Sirius XM it's no longer time to be friendly in pursuit of ending a 24 year playoff drought. We discuss Tua's journey to this new level of confidence.

00:29What do you think this team needs to do to get over that hump,

00:31to get a win in the playoffs?

00:34It's cool to be friendly.

00:37I think for for us, I think that's the step we took further this year

00:42as a team, that I'm able to look at you as my teammate

00:45and I'm able to tell you what you need to work on.

00:47And you're able to tell me the same thing.

00:49And that's it.

00:49Big brother, little brother, little brother, big brother, whatever that looks.

00:52Accountability, accountability.

00:53But like, that's why you create those relationships off the field.

00:57So that, you know, where I'm coming from is it's all out of love.

01:01It's all out of respect.

01:02But if you're not helping me get to where we need to be as a team,

01:06we don't need you.

01:07And if I can't tell you that.

01:11Get out like that, that is plain and simple, like that, that's

01:14that's just how it is.

01:15That's the mindset.

01:16And I don't know if you guys were out there at practice, but everybody

01:20needs to feel that like everywhere.

01:22Like and so I think I think in my personal opinion, we have the guys

01:26that we need right now to do all of that.

01:28So and, you know, go in this 24 year drought and get us to a Super Bowl.

01:48you see what your quarterback and your leader has gone through

01:51and where he is now.

01:54It means more coming from him.

01:57And it's not necessarily two of the quarterback,

02:02but two of the person needed to be resigned.

02:15Because it comes from.

02:17You know where he came from and how he grew on this team.

02:21And so I think players respect that and players know.

02:27That is coming from a good place because he is a good person.

05:22It is interesting, though, because like it's you go for him.

05:25You know, you remember two years in, like he didn't even want to like go for captain.

05:29Like he didn't even want to like raise his hand for it.

05:32But again, is from is coming from a place of.

05:37You know, if you want to be a leader, you kind of have to bring something

05:41to the table, right?

05:43And if everybody's treating you like everything was given to you,

05:48why would you accept something and have to try and lead

05:52when everybody has that impression of you?

05:55Right. So now we're looking at two.

05:58And we like, yo, this dude earned it, right?

06:01Wherever it ends up, you know, that where he is right now, he earned it.

06:05He worked for it. He worked his butt off.

06:08And he's earned the respect of everybody in that locker room.

06:12So now anything he says.

06:15People listen, and it comes from a different place.

06:19And I think that's the most important thing there is that he has.

06:25You know, grown himself to the point where he can be a leader and.

06:30You hear what he said in that.

06:33That that that that response right there.

06:38I can't ever remember to a talking like that.

06:40Me neither. And so, you know, it's.

06:46You know, it's it's good to hear.

06:49But, you know, it's not something that was forced on him.

06:53No, it seems genuine for sure. Right.

06:55And I think that's that's the most important thing that.

07:01Your leader is genuine, right?

07:04And so I think.

07:07He can go in that huddle and ask for a little bit extra.

07:10He can go in that huddle and demand, you know, hey, guys,

07:13I need a little more time where maybe he didn't feel he could do that before.

07:18Big money swag, dude.

07:19It's not see. And that's why it's big money.

07:23And I think one of the things that he tried to avoid

07:28was making it about money.

07:30You think if he didn't get his contract, he'd still be in there the same way?

07:34I do. But I think it helps.

07:37Well, it helps that he can look at his team and say, I'm going to be here.

07:46I think that the organization does stand for a confidence behind him.

07:49So I do think there is something to it, which which is amazing

07:51because he's been on the other.

07:52He's been on the extreme other side of that,

07:54the organization being rats up a ship on him, which is amazing.

07:57That why don't teams see this?

08:01I don't even see his interaction with other teammates and realize that

08:06this guy, regardless of what we think of him, can lead our team.
