Los Angeles residents respond to President Donald Trump's deployment of National Guard troops to the city, where protesters clashed with security forces during a weekend of unrest over federal immigration raids. "I think Trump deploying the National Guard is ridiculous," says Estrella Corral, while Robert Ruvalcaba questions why similar action wasn't taken during the January 6 Capitol riots in 2021.

00:28i think it's a intimidation tactic um i think um these protests have been peaceful there's
00:36no one trying to do anything sort of damage right now and yet you have the national guard
00:40with loaded magazines and large guns standing around trying to intimidate uh americans from
00:46you know um exercising our first amendment rights um and saying hey what we think you're
00:52doing is wrong and we're going to let you know i think trump deploying national guard is
00:59um ridiculous i think he's escalating he's trying to make a show um for his agenda and la is
01:08the community all we're asking is that people aren't ripped from their jobs from middle school
01:14graduations in front of their children being separated from their families um in a very um
01:20just traumatic distressing way and they're being held without food and water for 12 to 24 hours
01:25and we're just here to say that that's not okay this is our community and we want to feel safe
01:30the national guard being in the city um they didn't have this response for january 6th
01:52now it's it's for aesthetics that's what it's for because uh they needed this when people stormed
02:04into the capital i think there's uh a narrative of of people trying to storm here when we're just
02:10trying to resist or or or block things
