Leeds United: Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle arrive at Elland Road

00:00So now what we'll do is we'll come on to some signings Leeds have made.

00:04They've made a couple in the last few days and weeks and they are Joe Rothwell and in particular

00:11Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United who is a first choice right back. Now we've spoken

00:15at length in recent weeks Lee about the need for a right back. Of course you've had Sam Byron there

00:21but we always said or especially you said that they could do with someone else being in that role

00:28to cover because if Byron gets injured or if he doesn't go up to standards then what do they do

00:33in that position? Especially now that Archie Gray has gone who did play a lot of

00:36his season there last year. So they've got him and so it's a box ticked isn't it?

00:45Yeah he's a big signing I think Jayden Bogle and I think probably at a pretty good price as well

00:49around about £5 million. He's still only 23 years old he's good age you know like obviously a lot

00:54of developing to do. He probably without a doubt got his best years ahead of him.

00:58Loads of Premier League experience, 50 Premier League games and five goals.

01:02Gets forward as I say even scoring those five goals at that level I think he'll offer a goal

01:06threat. He's the sort of player that I think will be you know very well obviously he's gonna be

01:10first choice right back but I think if Leeds do start going for wing back system as well you know

01:14at some point you know whether it's all the time or just at some points in games I think being a

01:18wing back will really really suit him as well and as I say they got him basically for that price

01:22because he only had one year left on his deal at Sheffield United and it was quite telling I felt

01:27that Chris Wilder was talking about his departure and sort of you know like particularly happy about

01:32it really which he's not going to be so I've lost a very good player but he basically said that you

01:36know the contracts offer was there for him but he can't like sort of like tie him down and say to

01:41give him the pen and say look you've got to sign this. At the end of the day he saw his future

01:44elsewhere he saw his future at Leeds United and you know as I say I think he's a very very good

01:49signing and it was definitely one that was needed I mean as I say whether or not whether or not you

01:54know Daniel Farker went with three at the back in that friendly because of the lack of fullback

01:57options yeah possibly I think a lot of people do think that might be the case but it isn't the case

02:01now they're still not exactly flush with fullbacks it's got to be said but I mean you'd like to think

02:06now that you know somewhere around about there I mean Bogle will be first choice right back Firpo

02:12will be first choice left back and then you've got Sam Byron who you know player I've got a

02:16lot of time for I think he's a very very useful player to have because he always does his bit

02:20basically he's always solid and he can play it right back or left back and even he played a

02:25bit at centre back in that pre-season friendly so they're sort of like the three really but I

02:30suppose they're you know like that's only three really isn't it and then thereafter I mean you

02:34know could you do with somebody else I mean possibly I mean again it just depends on what

02:38system they're going to go with because obviously Dan James can play as a wing back you know we

02:43saw Nonto there as a wing back so there are players that you can sort of like play in these

02:47positions Verba obviously has come back Max Verba and he's I don't know whether he's a centre back

02:51or left back a centre back I suppose but he can play left back so they're all sort of intertwining

02:55parts really but you know and a lot of sort of like you know what if will happen in terms of

02:59formations but what is definitely not in doubt is that he's a very very good signing and I expect

03:05him to be like one of Leeds' key players I really do you know it'll obviously take him time to sort

03:10of bed in and whatnot but you know it's good that it's good they've managed to get him in sort of

03:14relatively soon so they could get him out to Germany for the pre-season camp and yeah as I say

03:20I think you know as signings go I think that's an excellent one you know that's you give that a very

03:25good high rating I think as I say good age decent price really for it four-year deal Premier League

03:31experience scores goals I mean you know the proof will be in the pudding once you know once he plays

03:35for Leeds and obviously you know gotta go and do it now but I fully expect he will do and I think

03:39that's a very very good sign in and follows another one in Joe Rothwell who we'll probably

03:43talk about next yes well I'll let you continually exactly okay anyway yes on to Joe Rothwell now

03:50who's also coming in recent days yeah and again I mean well I think that was that was sort of

03:55happening around about the same time as Glenn Kamara obviously departed for Rennes so I mean

03:59obviously as well yeah yeah and it's it's you know a shame to see Kamara go he was just solid simple

04:07as that you know as a midfielder for Leeds the question mark with him was was his goals goal

04:12threat and goal contributions you know and there just wasn't enough of it really and I think that's

04:18something that Rothwell will bring a bit more of you know like he's he's got a history of not

04:22scoring shed loads of goals but he does score goals and has more goal contributions in Kamara

04:27whether he's got a player as Kamara is is open to debate but you know like I think he'll be a good

04:32solid signing obviously on a season-long loan from Bournemouth obviously played for Leeds his

04:37championship promotion rivals Southampton in the second half of last season obviously got a debut

04:43in the Harrogate Town game Daniel Farker was asked about him again you know as he would have naturally

04:47how what he thought to his debut etc and he did sort of say that one thing with Joe Rothwell is

04:51he'll take time to get up to speed and that's that's quite understandable because he only had

04:55four league starts for Southampton so you know getting into the sort of like cut and thrust of

05:00it will take a bit of time for him but he looks pretty pretty decent I thought in the first half

05:03just solid again you know no sort of like major fireworks or anything next to Gruev in centre

05:07midfield but did his bit got forward a bit a few turns and nice like turns of play and forward

05:12passes and stuff and you know definitely a player they needed in that position and again that almost

05:17feels the midfield now it kind of feels like right well you know one's gone and one's one one out in

05:22terms of Kamara and one in in terms of Rothwell but is there enough there in centre midfield and

05:28yeah I sort of feel like you'd probably like to see another midfielder really maybe an eight you

05:31know like someone a bit more attacking in midfield and stuff so we'll remain to be seeing what

05:34happens with that obviously you've got you know Rothwell and Gruev, Ampadu will presumably go

05:40into midfield but can also play at centre back so you know depends where he's going to play and

05:44then he got young Charlie Crewe coming through but in terms of like raw centre midfielders you

05:49know like not like number 10s and stuff there's not an awful lot of them so that's another area

05:53you know you'd maybe look at but yeah I think again he's a decent squad signing Rothwell and

05:58if he settles in well and you know and takes his chances when he's in then you could see him

06:05becoming a regular starter but it just depends on what formation they're going to go with really

06:08because as I say you might have Ampadu at the back and then it's him and Gruev in the middle

06:13or you could have Ampadu in midfield so it's all moving parts isn't it but yeah a good signing and

06:18I think fans were getting a bit you know restless and itchy about the lack of activity in the

06:22transfer market and bit by bit now we're sort of moving in the right direction obviously

06:27Rothwell was signing number three, Bogle four, we hope more would follow and I think they need

06:31to follow but yeah I think it's as two signings go I think pretty decent signings yeah definitely.

06:37Very much so yeah so you know Leeds needed something after as you say their Kamara

06:42as departure obviously Archie Greer who we've already mentioned they needed

06:46just something to to lighten the mood I think a little bit as well yeah especially if they

06:50are going to be taken seriously as as title contenders once again in this upcoming championship

06:55season title favorites even well title as yes title favorites as we have mentioned in the past

07:01yes yeah it's it's going to be a long old season but Leeds need to demonstrate

07:06what they're about and learn from the mistakes they made in last season's campaign.
