BAFTA winner Steve Pemberton on becoming a UCLan Honorary Fellow

Five-time BAFTA winner Steve Pemberton from Lancashire shares his delight at receiving an Honorary Fellowship from UCLan.

00:00Well for me to be here in Preston today coming to get an honorary fellowship in my local university

00:07obviously I didn't attend here as a student but I've known about the university I've got a lot

00:12of family here so I'm really proud really proud to be coming back home and you know local boy

00:17makes good. When I was asked to deliver a speech I always tried to make it sort of motivational

00:22and give some advice and you know one of the best pieces of advice which I was given was

00:28think of it as a marathon not a sprint so don't worry especially in the arts if you're not making

00:33it straight away you're going to have a long career ahead of you so some people will spend

00:38longer setting the bedrock of their career and other people yeah will will be successful early

00:43on but you've got to have resilience that's the key the key word. Pauline Campbell-Jones

00:54say you could have been working from 15 no need to be poncing around for three years
