00:00Hello, I'm Jussi from Wheel, I'm the lead guitar player, and we're here in Chicago on
00:16our Charismatic Leaders tour.
00:20And yeah, that's our new album, go and check it out, Charismatic Leaders, really nice new
00:26music.
00:28And you guys are here to check out my gear.
00:32There's my pedalboard, here's my amp and the cabinet, and my guitars.
00:39Here's my precious tools.
00:43These are both made from Jarno Salo, Finnish luthier, lives really near me.
00:55Or he has a workshop in Järvenpää, near Helsinki, and he's a really talented guy.
01:02This is kind of a mixture of Telecaster and Gibson Firebird.
01:08And basically this is PAF humbuckers, these are also made from Jarno, so they are kind
01:14of custom made, but it's kind of low output stuff.
01:19Mainly I'm using the bridge pickup, but I also have a lot of stuff going on here in
01:27a neck pickup.
01:29And some of the things I also do, like this splits the coil so I get a kind of single
01:37coil sound there too.
01:38And I have the same thing in both guitars.
01:41These are basically identical, but I'm going to show the differences from the other one.
01:46I usually use my tone knobs, actually this has only one tone knob, this is kind of master
01:52tone.
01:53I usually have it full, but sometimes when I need a little bit of a darker tone, I dial
02:00it a little bit down.
02:02And this one is just a kill switch.
02:06It looks like a pot, but it's kind of a dead pot, but it has the kill switch thing going
02:10on.
02:11Basic switch for the pickups.
02:15The strings I'm using is D'Addario 11-50, but the thickest string is like 56.
02:30And yeah, that's D'Addario.
02:31And the tuning is low C, and the rest of it is like drop D. So this is low C, G, C, F,
02:41A and D strings.
02:45And that's pretty much how this is.
02:46I'm going to show you the other one.
02:48It's basically the same, but with a little bit differences.
02:53Here you go.
02:55It also has the kill switch here, tone, volumes.
02:59But it has the Bixby tailpiece, and it's semi-hollow, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.
03:06And this is my main guitar on this tour, this is what I've been mainly playing.
03:13And that's about the guitars.
03:17Then we move into the amp section.
03:23This is a Victory Travel Amp Kraken.
03:27I think it's 40-50 watts, I'm not pretty sure about the output, but let's say it's loud
03:33enough for basically anything.
03:37I use the both channels.
03:39First channel is dialed like a...
03:41It's almost clean.
03:42It has a little bit hair in it, but yeah.
03:46And the channel 2 is more distorted.
03:50That's how it's dialed.
03:52I have the...
03:53There's a...
03:54Back of the amp, there's a bass focus dial or whatever it is.
03:59It's pressed down, so it's a little bit tighter in the low end.
04:04It's really easy to use and simple, so it's...
04:09All you can see here, that's the amp basically.
04:12Then we have the Victory cabs.
04:17They are 2x12-inch speakers with, I think it's Celestion Vintage 30s in it.
04:28So that's also pretty basic, like hard rock or heavy metal stuff.
04:34We both...
04:35James also uses 2x12 on this tour, because we had little issues with fitting everything
04:42in the bus, but yeah.
04:46For practical reasons, 2x12s, but I also prefer 2x12s myself when playing in Europe and any
04:54case.
04:55I'm not 100% sure how the chain goes, but this is at least the first one on the chain
05:03It's the tuner.
05:07And it tunes the guitar.
05:11Then here, I think this is the first on the chain.
05:14It's the wah pedal and it's also an expression pedal.
05:20And you could use it also as a volume pedal, but I'm not using that volume pedal thing
05:25here.
05:26Only expression for this, because this has a kind of filter that I can adjust it with
05:32the expression and when I press it on, it becomes a wah pedal.
05:38Then we have whammy.
05:39I think it's before the distortion pedals.
05:43I use the octave down, octave up and also the dry signal goes through, so I can switch
05:52it between the octave down and octave up easily.
05:56And then I use the basic octave thing.
06:01That's only those two settings I use on that one.
06:07I think here it goes somewhere, I think the compressor is first.
06:13It's the Xotic SP compressor.
06:18I use it basically only on the clean sounds, just to even it a bit and give it a little
06:26bit more brightness and that chi-ching.
06:31Tonus basically does the same.
06:35The gain is basically off there and I give it a little push for the treble.
06:43Then here's, I think this is the jam pedals.
06:46It's basically there like a tube screamer, tube dreamer it's called.
06:54I just boost the distortion channel with it to get a little bit more midrange and more
07:01punch for some of the lead stuff.
07:06This pedal is really interesting, it's kind of a fuzz pedal and filter pedal.
07:11On this tour I'm not using the filter thing, but I do it in pervious, in the midsection
07:19when I put the filter down and I'm kind of playing alone and opening it slowly.
07:30But in Empire I use this on Versys, the Kangra pedal.
07:37It's really aggressive and punchy fuzz sound.
07:42Then I have the Octave fuzz which I use in a few of the solos and lead parts.
07:49It's kind of basic, basic Jimi Hendrix style octave fuzz and it gives that nice little
08:00dirty octave above the signal.
08:07This factory is here, I'm not using it on this tour, but it's a really wild pedal.
08:15Maybe I'm not going to tell about it more because I haven't used it a lot, but it's
08:19here on the board for the big coming tours and big coming recordings.
08:26Here's the M1, this is Walrus audio.
08:33It has a lot of different delay, like time-based, like chorus, flanger, phaser, that stuff,
08:45like modulation effects.
08:48I'm using vibrato and phaser mainly.
08:51This Kili trimrod is for the choruses and this stuff here is in the effects loop, so
08:58I have also the chorus pedal in the effects loop.
09:02Then I have a solo boost here in the effects loop, delay, which is Walrus audio ARP 87.
09:15Nice tap tempo stuff and I'm basically using the analog setting on it.
09:22And then I have this Hydra pedal, which is reverb and tremolo, and this expression pedal
09:29I use for adjusting the length of the reverbs or the kind of rate of the tremolo.
09:41We're all using in-ear monitors and this is my mic setup.
09:47Of course I have a 57, which is pretty much the standard, and then I have the AKG D4,
09:56I think it's for, because if we want to widen it, or I don't know what the mixing guy is
10:05really doing with it, but he's mixing those two mics together.
10:09Picks that I use are Dunlop Flow picks, 1.5mm I think, and only them, I like them, they
10:24are nice and firm.
10:28Hey so thanks for watching, this was Marik, and go to Spotify or whatever streaming platform
10:34to check out our new album, Charismatic Leaders, and see you on the gigs, and good luck!
