F C Darlaston doing great work in the community and now helped by Asda too.

Asda Daralston have helped with a donation to FC Daralston. A club that is very community focused and are doing great things  for the local area.

00:00So we're here at FC Darleston and we've got the fantastic Diane from ASDA Community Champion.

00:10So we've got Michael from the club chairman.

00:13And what are you doing down here then Diane, fill us in.

00:16I'm actually presenting a cheque to Mike.

00:18That's it, he's kind of, the clue's there isn't it.

00:22Obviously to support his community project.

00:26Yeah, well do you know what you're going to be doing with the money yet Mike?

00:30Yeah.

00:31Holiday to Spain?

00:33No, we're using it to refurb our male and female toilets, the flooring.

00:39Yeah, the flooring's not in the best condition.

00:41So yeah, this will give a long way into helping us renovate it.

00:44And it's fantastic facilities down in it, isn't it Diane?

00:47I'm quite surprised at what they've got here.

00:49I'm quite impressed.

00:50Actually the support ASDA a lot with, they do help us with the network meetings.

00:56Okay.

00:57And they give the room for free.

00:58Ah fantastic.

01:00He's had quite a few donations off us in the past as well.

01:05Yeah, so you've just been building and building here haven't you?

01:08You were saying, you took this site on when?

01:12About 16 months ago.

01:14Yeah.

01:14Yeah, we've done quite a lot to be honest in that 16 months.

01:18It was a bit overgrown and a bit of a mess when you took it on.

01:20Yeah, pretty much derelict mate.

01:21Yeah.

01:22It's had a full revamp.

01:23So you've had new, what's the word?

01:27Surfaces.

01:28Surfaces, new surfaces on the Allweathers.

01:30Yeah, re-used the AstroTurf surface, added a nine-a-side pitch,

01:33added two five-a-side youth pitches.

01:37Renovated the pub garden area with table tennis, basketball options.

01:43Renovated the clubhouse, the bar, pretty much a full cover also.

01:48How long have you had it again?

01:50Yeah.

01:50You've done all that in Hammond, that's crazy isn't it.

01:54But they're very special places, I mean as a community champion,

01:57places like this, it's not just about kicking a ball on the pitch is it?

02:01It's about community.

02:02It's about getting the community together.

02:04100 percent.

02:05Yeah.

02:05And this facility is ideal.

02:07Yeah.

02:07Because it's obviously, it just touches on all ages.

02:11Yeah, yeah.

02:11You know, not just the kids who are playing football,

02:13but like people who are using the venue after as well.

02:17Well that's it, you've got a fantastic room in there,

02:22For parties and birthdays.

02:24We host a lot of parties, weddings, quiz nights, entertainment, comedians.

02:36You've got a quiz night coming up I've seen,

02:37and you'll be open for the football on Sunday?

02:40Yeah, 100 percent.

02:42Well as a football man, so what do you reckon, England actually?

02:47Yeah, I think England will do him.

02:50Have you already butchered half work Monday?

02:52Yeah.

02:54Well fantastic down here guys, and Michael what you've done with the place,

02:58it looks amazing and as I say it's so important for the community to have facilities like this.
