Newly appointed foreign secretary David Lammy has said he wants to see “an immediate ceasefire” in the Israel-Gaza conflict. “I will do all I can diplomatically to support Joe Biden in bringing about that ceasefire,” he said speaking from the Foreign Office. 00:00Clearly, many people across our country are distressed at the images that we have been
00:07seeing from Gaza over many, many months. All of us want to see an immediate ceasefire and
00:14I will do all I can diplomatically to support Joe Biden in bringing about that ceasefire.
00:21We also want the hostages out and we want unfettered aid to get in to Gaza. And in the
00:27end, we must work towards that two-state solution and have a clear path to progress.
00:33All of us recognise the agony of communities who have seen the scenes coming out of Israel
00:39and Gaza. But the job now is to get to work with tireless diplomacy to support an immediate
00:46ceasefire and move towards getting those hostages out and the aid in.
