00:00You know this already, I've told you a million times, I have posters of you on my desk.
00:03Like, lots of merch with your face on it, pajamas, diaries, everything.
00:08It's true!
00:10Now I'm blushing.
00:11Hey, I'm Zac Efron.
00:12And I'm Joey King.
00:13And today we're gonna let Elle ask us anything.
00:18Like anything.
00:19What was your favorite rom-com growing up?
00:22The first thing that comes to mind is She's the Man.
00:24I love that movie.
00:25I love it too.
00:26I love it. It makes me laugh so hard.
00:28Man of Iron is so funny in that movie.
00:29What is one role you wish you had auditioned for, past or present?
00:34Some one of the characters in The Goonies.
00:35Oh, I like that answer.
00:37Yeah.
00:37Would you have been alive?
00:39No.
00:40Okay.
00:40But it was any movie, past or present, right?
00:42Oh, yeah, you're right.
00:43I wasn't, I didn't listen to my own question that I had.
00:45Laura, you know what?
00:47Neo in The Matrix.
00:48Oh, that's really cool.
00:49No, I think Keanu is the best one.
00:51I wouldn't have gone with me either.
00:52Yeah, you would have lost the role, but at least you would have auditioned for it.
00:54Wish it would have been there.
00:55That's what counts.
00:56Who is one celebrity you would like to have as a boss?
01:00You, I guess.
01:01I don't know.
01:01I'll take that.
01:02Yeah.
01:03That's sweet.
01:03I think you'd be fine, I guess.
01:05I don't know.
01:06You'd be a great boss too.
01:07The thing is, I don't want to say anyone that I actually love,
01:09because I feel like it'd be heartbreaking.
01:12Yeah, well, I also feel like it'd be heartbreaking to work for someone
01:15that you really, really, really love, and it wouldn't if it doesn't go well.
01:19So that's why I said you, because I think you're fine.
01:22Yeah, great.
01:22You're good.
01:23At this point, you've kind of vetted me out.
01:25I'm just kidding.
01:26How did it feel to reunite with Nicole Kidman on screen 10 years,
01:2812 years, actually, I think, after The Paperboy?
01:31It was kind of a dream come true.
01:32I've hoped it would happen again, and I can't believe that it did.
01:35It was pretty cool.
01:36She called me and was like, do you want to do this movie?
01:39Because I'll do it if you do it.
01:40It's so cool.
01:41I think I just paused for an awkward, like, 15 seconds, taking that in.
01:45You were like, clutching my pearls.
01:47Feelings mutual?
01:47Oh, sure.
01:49Yeah, if you, yeah, yeah, let's do it.
01:52And what a pair you two are.
01:54That's so fun.
01:54So hot together.
01:57What is your favorite memory from the set of the performance?
02:00I think my favorite moments were when you and I would just completely
02:04go off the rails with our improv.
02:06And you always say, like, we had to really believe the silly things we
02:09were saying, and it was so much fun.
02:11And it was kind of this, like, who's going to break first vibe,
02:14and it was usually me.
02:15There was one particular day when we were stuck in that car.
02:17Yeah.
02:18And we had, like, these super expensive digital screens around.
02:21And we just kept singing, like, do you believe in love after love?
02:25And I was sitting there in the movie.
02:27I have this, like, blank face, because I was, like,
02:30literally biting my tongue.
02:32Because I had broken so many times.
02:33It took so long to film that.
02:35What was your first impression of me?
02:38I feel like my first impression, I was pretty dead on.
02:40I think I got a pretty good read of what you'd be like.
02:43And if anything, you surpassed my expectations.
02:46You're just very lovely.
02:47The fun that you have in your performances and as an actor,
02:51it radiates through.
02:52And I think that has to come from, like, a really honest place.
02:54That's so nice.
02:55It was true.
02:56I felt validated in that.
02:57I was like, all right, you got one right.
03:00What am I supposed to do with that?
03:01Like, that's so sweet.
03:03And you exceeded all my expectations.
03:05You're the best.
03:05It's honestly one of those things where it's actually
03:07kind of scary to meet someone you admire so much, you love so much.
03:10But it wasn't scary at all, because you're the best.
03:13And just to touch on what you said about me, which was really nice,
03:17I think the way you work is amazing.
03:18And your improvisation skills are the best I've ever seen in my life.
03:21Thank you.
03:22That means the world.
03:22You're welcome.
03:23You're sweet.
03:24So I guess we're being nice to each other now.
03:25Now I'm blushing.
03:27OK, your turn.
03:28What does a night out with Taylor Zakhar Perez system?
03:32That's a really funny question.
03:33Oh, dear.
03:34A night on the town, perhaps?
03:37Potentially a movie, if we're feeling like we don't want to gab that much.
03:40But usually we're in the mood to gab.
03:42So probably dinner.
03:43Dinner.
03:44Dinner and hangs at the house.
03:46And hangs with the dogs.
03:47And we also like to go to Mammoth a lot.
03:49We like to go to Mammoth.
03:49So it's not really a night.
03:51It's like a full weekend, which is fun.
03:52Sounds fun.
03:53I need to squeeze in for one of those.
03:54Who's your current style icon?
03:57Ooh, Elvis.
03:58Love that anthem.
03:59Elvis is cool.
03:59Steve McQueen was pretty cool.
04:01Paul Newman was very cool.
04:02Who else?
04:03Oh, Cary Grant.
04:04James Bond.
04:06So yeah, really great style icons there.
04:10What excites you most in fashion right now?
04:13Ooh, that's a good question.
04:15Latex.
04:16Latex.
04:18Just to do that.
04:21I think what excites me most in fashion right now,
04:25I like this vibe of we're not trying too hard.
04:27I like wrinkly shirts that aren't all the way buttoned with relaxed jeans
04:31and cute ballet flats.
04:33I love this vibe that's happening right now.
04:35A little bit Y2K mixed with a little bit modern.
04:39I feel like the 90s.
04:40Yes, they are.
04:41It's so funny, because I was there in the 90s wearing that stuff.
04:44Yeah.
04:45What were those really pipey, long jeans?
04:47I know what you're talking about.
04:48And I remember realizing how dumb they were and going,
04:51I'm never going to wear anything like this ever again.
04:55And now everyone's walking around the street in those.
04:58So funny.
04:58So it's crazy.
04:59I'm happy that skinny jeans went out of style.
05:01Yeah, me too.
05:02Those suck, especially when you start lifting weights.
05:04You're like, how the fuck?
05:06What is the most frequently asked question in your DMs?
05:09I don't know if you even read your DMs.
05:11I don't read DMs.
05:11I don't even know what a DM is.
05:13Yeah, I'm fucking right.
05:15I've never been in my DMs.
05:17Never?
05:18No.
05:18Never once?
05:19No, maybe I've looked at it once a couple years ago.
05:22But I feel like the effort to not have it on my phone.
05:24I feel like you have got to have some crazy things in your DMs
05:29from the most famous people.
05:31The tea that is in there, mm.
05:35What does that mean?
05:36Tea means gossip, the hot take, the skinny.
05:42Tea.
05:42The tea.
05:43If you could cameo in any TV show, what would it be?
05:46I want to be on Top Chef as a quick fire judge.
05:50That would be amazing.
05:51You'd crush that.
05:52I know.
05:53What is your most embarrassing on-set story?
05:55I was real young.
05:57This is my first kissing scene.
05:58It was on a show called Summerland.
06:00And I didn't realize that eating fish right before that
06:03was probably not a good idea.
06:05And I kissed my co-star, and she went,
06:07did you eat fish for lunch?
06:09And everybody laughed.
06:10Oh, no, that's so embarrassing.
06:11Yeah, I'm scarred for life.
06:12What was the highlight from your first Cannes Film Festival?
06:15Ooh, you know what?
06:16I got to see Sean Baker's new film,
06:17Onora, starring Mikey Madison.
06:19And it was amazing.
06:20I see.
06:21I heard that one's real sick.
06:22Which character of yours would you love to reprise?
06:25I don't know.
06:26There's been some fun ones.
06:27Oh, maybe Teddy from Neighbors.
06:29Oh, I thought you were like Teddy, like Ted Bundy.
06:33Yeah, no, that story's kind of right.
06:34I was like, huh, that's a choice.
06:36What's one proper wardrobe piece you've taken from a set?
06:39Oh, I took Ted Bundy's sweater.
06:43And I gave it to my mom, and she loves it.
06:45Oh, my god.
06:47Wait, that's so funny.
06:48She wears it all the time.
06:49It's really funny.
06:50She sends me photos that she's wearing.
06:52That's amazing.
06:54It's funny, because it was kind of uncomfortable to show her
06:56that, maybe, in the first place.
06:57Of course.
06:57She loves the sweater.
06:58That's so funny.
07:01What's the best advice you've gotten from another actor?
07:03Patricia Arquette and I worked together on the act.
07:05And she was so amazing.
07:06One thing that she really taught me
07:08if I'm ever doing a love scene or a scene where I maybe
07:11don't have as much clothing on as normal,
07:14she taught me how to really ask for what I need to feel safe
07:17and to be comfortable and to not be afraid to ask
07:20for those things, because they're just basic human
07:23decency things to ask for.
07:25But she made me feel like being slightly assertive in that way
07:29was not a bad thing.
07:29So I really appreciate that.
07:30No, it's actually super important.
07:32That was really good.
07:32That's really, really good advice.
07:33Wait, is that it?
07:35Yeah.
07:37Thank you so much for watching.
07:38Be sure to watch A Family Affair on Netflix.
