The education watchdog inspects schools regularly and assigns them one of four different ratings: “Outstanding” is the top rating, followed by “Good”, “Requires Improvement” and “Inadequate.”

00:14of four different ratings. Outstanding is the top rating, followed by Good, Requires

00:20Improvement and Inadequate. The classification is based on five key categories. Quality of

00:27Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management and

00:32either Early Years or Sixth Form provisions, depending on whether the school is primary

00:37or secondary. And, lots of local schools were awarded the Top Outstanding award, including

00:44Ashton Gate Primary School, Beacon Rise Primary School in Hannam, Bishop Road Primary School

00:50and Elmer Lee Infant School. St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School on Somerset Square was one

00:56senior school that was also awarded Outstanding.
